RICHIBUCTO - Mr. Irenee Chevarie, 76, of Richibucto passed away on Thursday, March 20, 1997 at the Dr. Georges L.Dumont Hospital, Moncton, following a brief illness.
Born in St. Charles, N.B., he was the son of the late Pacific and Sara (Leger) Chevarie. He had worked for A.E. Mundle and was with Sanitoy Inc. until retirement. He attended St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto.
He is survived by a special friend, Herculine Allain; three daughters, Jeannette Flaggs (Russel), Antoinette Banks (David) and Rita Racine (Rick), all of Fitchburg, Mass.; one son, Jeffery Chevarie of Fitchburg, Mass; 8 stepsisters, Alma Richard (Leonide) of St. Norbert, Bernadette LeBlanc (Lionel) of Moncton, Rose-Eva Thibodeau (Eli) of St. Norbert, Bertha Saulnier (Basil) of Richibucto, Aline Gibbs (Edward) of Inkerman, Cecile Peitraszko (Henry) of Aldouane, Margaret Comeau (Vincent) of Richibucto, Germaine Comeau (Roger) of Aldouane; four stepbrothers, Alphonse Daigle of Rexton, Aldenc Daigle of Saint John, Romeo Daigle of Aldouane, Ernest Daigle of Aldouane; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Anne Gionet; one stepsister, Beatrice Boucher; three stepbrothers, Ben, Gerald and Roger.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252) with visiting hours on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until time of funeral. Funeral service to be held at St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto on Monday, March 24, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Aldouane Roman Catholic Church Cemetery in the spring.

SUDBURY, ONT. - Dominique Leger, 69, of Sudbury, Ont., passed away at Laurentian Hosptial, Sudbury on February 14, 1997 after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Born in St. Antoine, he was the son of the Hypolite Leger and the late Marie (Cormier) Leger.
He was survived by three brothers, Gerard and Noé of Sudbury, Leopold of Little Dover Road, N.B.; five sisters, Alice Cormier, Rita Cormier of St. Antoine, Madeleine Vautour and Anita Maillet of Shediac, Jeannine Cormier of Moncton.

Euclide Leger
Bouctouche - Euclide Leger, 56, of Bouctouche passed away at Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on April 3, 1995 after a brief illness. Born in St. Antoine de Kent, he was the son of Mrs. Estelle (Leger) Leger and the late Elzear Leger. He was employed as a construction foreman with several constuction companies in the Waltham, Mass., USA., and Bouctouche areas, He attended St.-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche. He was past president of the local Golf Club, former president of the Bouctouche Chamber of Commerce and former president of the Chamber of Commerce Bingo Committee. He had been involved in various capacities with the local Recreational Council, the Gentleman's Hockey League, the Softball League and the Ice Arena's Board of Directors. Active in sports, he was a member of the Bouctouche Jay Cees Hockey Club and a member of a local softball team. Besides his mother, he is survivied by his wife, Anita (Boucher) Leger of Bouctouche; three sons, Paul (Anna) of Bathurst, Ronald (Norma) of Dieppe, and Marc of Buctouche; one sister, Mrs. Rheal Cormier (Camilla) of Gardner, Mass., USA; two brothers, Georges (Yolande) of Notre-Dame de Kent, Marcel (Cathy) of Gardner, Mass., USA; three grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister, Denise in 1968. Georgia Léger SHEDIAC, NB - Georgia Léger, 88, wife of Edouard Léger of the Villa Providence and formerly of Residence Joseph LeBlanc, Shediac passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at the Villa Providence, Shediac. Born in Scoudouc, she was the daughter of the late Calixte and Octavie (Belliveau) LeBlanc. Besides her husband Edouard, she is survived by one daughter Louise Chouinard (Guildo) of St. Quentin; two sons, Bernard (Janie) of Thunder Bay, ON, Charles (Gloria) of Oshawa, ON; one sister Bernadette Poirier of Shediac; one brother Emery LeBlanc (Marguerite) of Campbellton; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Roland (2004), and one sister Elodie Gauthier. SACKVILLE, NB - The death of Rita Legere, age 89, of Sackville, widow of Fred Legere, occurred at the Drew Nursing Home, on Friday, March 10, 2006. Born in Memramcook, she was a daughter of the late Gill and Minnie (Gould) Legere. A hairdresser, she was a member of St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville and the CWL. Rita will be sadly missed by her daughter, Doreen (Alan) Johnson, Sackville; two granddaughters, Karen and Michele; a brother, Alonzo (June) Legere, New Glasgow, NS. She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis in 1996; her husband, Fred in 2002; brothers, Laurie, Roy, Fred and Leo. Rita's remains have been entrusted into the care of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, (364-1300) with visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Emile "Felix" J. Girouard, 73, of the D.V.A. Wing of the Dr. Georges L.Dumont Hospital and formerly of Cameron Street, died at the centre, Tuesday, March 1, 1994.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Philippe and Ida (Leger) Girouard. He was a retired bus driver. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton, Branch #6, a veteran of World War II having served overseas in Britain, Northern Europe and in Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Florence (d' Ambroise) Williams-Girouard; three daughters, Mrs. Brian LeBlanc (Nina), Cathy Girouard, Brenda Girouard, all of Moncton; three stepdaughters, Rita, Aline and Loretta; two sons, Arthur, Moncton, Maurice, Kitchener, Ont.; four stepsons, Eddy, John, Andy and Ted; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Caron, Moncton; two brothers, Edmond, Cocagne, Henri, Moncton; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Anna Hebert; a sister, Virginie Roy; three brothers, Zephir, Léandre and Michael.

Roger Légère, 44, widowed of Sherry Estabrooks, of Muncey Drive, Riverview, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2005 at his home, following a sudden illness. Born on May 19, 1961, in Shediac, NB, he was the son of the late Edouard Légère and Catherine Boudreau. He was employed in Janitorial Services with Service Master. Roger enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at home and at his cottage in Caissie Cape. He was a beautiful spirit and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Estabrooks; two daughters, Chelsea and Lindsay both at home; four sisters, Pauline Boudreau (Tony), Cocagne, Judy Poirier (Mike), Shediac Bridge, Giséle Légère, Shediac, Antoinette Gallant (Léo), Shediac; one brother, Ernest Légère (Simonne), Shediac; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces. MRS. ROSE A. LEGERE
The death occured at her home early Thursday evening Dec 24 of Mrs. Rose Anna Legere of Maccan. Up until six months ago, Mrs. Legere had always enjoyed fairly good health. She was 86 years of age, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bourgeois, born in Grande Dique, N.B. ans lived all her married life in Maccan. She was twice married , her first husband , the late James St. Peter predeceased her in 1912. Her second husband, the late Abner Legere, predeceased her in 1941.
From her first marriage she is survived by one daughter, Margaret, Mrs. Lawrence Cormier of Toronto; five sons, Henry St. Peter, Joggins; Charles and Harvey, Maccan; Leo, Amherst; Anthony, Southampton. From her second marriage she is survived by one son, Lawrence Legere, Maccan. Also surviving are one half brother and two half sisters and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The remains are resting at her home in Maccan. The funeral service will be held Monday morning at 9 a.m. from St. Thomas Aquinas, R.C. Church in Joggins. Interment will be in Ragged Reef Cemtery.

The funeral was held Wednesday in Montreal for Mrs. Frank Legere, the former Florence K. Pye of Sheet Harbor. She died Sunday. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Pye and was educated at Sherbrooke and graduated from Mt. St. Bernard in Antigonish. After graduation she was employed by Royal Bank of Canada in Sherbrooke and in the supervisor's department in Halifax. After her marriage she moved to Montreal where she continued working until the time of her death. She is survived by her husband.

Valerie J. Legere, 82, of 5 Patterson Street, Amherst, died Thursday in Lockhart's Nursing Home. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Jane (Cormier) Legere. A retired tinsman, he was a former employee of the Amherst Stove and Furnace Company. In later years, he was bartender for the Amherst Golf Club. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church. He was a charter life honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2916 for more than 37 years. He was a member of Branch No. 10 Royal Canadian Legion and of the Legion band. Surviving are his wife, the former Annie LeBlanc; a daughter, Jacqueline (Mrs. Bert Niehaus), Trenton, Ont.; a sister, Celeste (Mrs. James Wellington), Worcester, Mass.; two brothers, Frank, Montreal; Henry. Worcester, Mass.; and six grandchildren. The body will be in Furlong's Funeral Home tonight. Funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Nativity of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery.

Outre ses parents, il laisse dans le deuil un frère: Eugène Léger, à la maison; sa grand-mère paternelle: Mme Cécile Léger, de Bouctouche; ses grands-parents maternels: M. et Mme Phil et Thérèse Boucher, de Saint-Paul, et sa grand-grand-mère maternelle: Mme Edna Babineau; de la Villa Beausoleil de Sainte-Marie.
Il laisse également plusieurs oncles, tantes, cousins et cousines.

Jean Collette It is with great regret that we announce the passing of Jean Collette on March 4, 2006, following a lengthy illness. He died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Alberta, on August 4, 1922, he was the son of the late Daniel Collette and the late Donalda St-Pierre. Besides his wife of 61 years, Muriel (Leger) Collette; he will be sadly missed by his eight children, Paul (Paula Normandeau), Janice Stevens (David) of Singapore, Charles (Rita Fontaine), Denyse Thompson (John) of Denver, Marie-Marthe (Gilles LeBlanc), Francine Doucette (Greg), Charline (Andre Boissonnault) of Campbellton, and Guy (Josette); as well as 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his four sisters, Thérèse Collette, Lucienne Palmert (John) of Ontario, Jeanne Landry (Laurie), of Ontario, and Hélène Forstner (John), of Saint-John. His family moved from Alberta to Bouctouche, NB, when Jean was 8 years of age. While studying at St. Joseph's College, Jean was very active in the Canadian Officers Training Corps, obtaining the rank of Captain. After receiving his Bachelor of Commerce, he worked as an auditor for the Co-operatives of New Brunswick. He was employed by l'Assomption from 1946 to 1954. In 1954, he founded an accounting practice and offered accounting and auditing services to many businesses and municipalities in New Brunswick. He became a professor of accounting at l'Université de Moncton in 1962, where he taught until his retirement in 1987. During this time, he also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Administration and as president of the NB CGA Association. In 1991, he received the honorary title of Professor Emeritus. Jean dedicated his life to learning, earning numerous degrees, including a Masters of Commercial Science, a Bachelor of Education, and a Masters of Business Administration. He also obtained several professional designations, such as C.A., FCGA, CMA, and a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers. He has numerous publications to his credit in the fields of accounting and genealogy. Jean's thirst for knowledge continued beyond his retirement, when he obtained a diploma in Theology. He then began a second career, focusing on pastoral care, biblical studies, and catechism. The family will receive condolences Tuesday, March 7th from 2 to 4 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Christ-Roi Church. Diplômé d'un baccalauréat de commerce, il a travaillé à titre de vérificateur pour les Coopératives du Nouveau-Brunswick. Il fut employé de l'Assomption de 1946 à 1954. En 1954, il a ouvert un cabinet comptable et offrait des services de comptabilité et de vérification à un grand nombre d'entreprises et de municipalités au Nouveau-Brunswick. Il devint professeur de comptabilité à l'Université de Moncton en 1962, et y enseigna jusqu'à sa retraite en 1987. Pendant ce temps, il a également été Doyen de la Faculté d'administration et président de l'Association des CGA du Nouveau-Brunswick. En 1991, on lui désigna le titre de Professeur émérite. Jean a consacré sa vie à l'acquisition de connaissances, obtenant plusieurs diplômes, y compris une maîtrise en sciences commerciales, un baccalauréat en Éducation, et une maîtrise en Administration des affaires. Il a également obtenu de nombreux titres professionnels, tel que CA, FCGA, CMA, et Fellow de l'Institut des banquiers canadiens. Il a publié de nombreux écrits dans les domaines de la comptabilité et la généalogie. Sa soif des connaissances a continué bien au-delà de sa retraite, et il a obtenu un diplôme en théologie. Il a alors débuté une seconde carrière orientée sur la pastoral, les études bibliques et la catéchèse. A Breau Village, paroisse de Cocagne, le 21 juin s'endormait pieusement dans le Seigneur, Béatrice Roy, épouse de Albert Léger, âgée de 22 ans et huit mois. Elle laisse pour pleurer sur sa tombe, outre son époux, son père et sa mère, M. et Mme Alphonse Roy de Ste-Anne, deux frères et trois soeurs, tous à la maison. Les funérailles ont eu lieu le 23 à l'église de Cocagne. Les porteurs étaient MM. Pierre LeBlanc, Georges Després, Julien Després, Ferdinand Bourque, Télex Bourque, Patrice Richard. Le Bouquest spirituel contenait 130 chapelets, 9 communions, 11 chemins de la croix, 25 messes entendues.

75, Saskatoon, Sask., formerly of Halifax, died October 21, 1992, in University of Saskatchewan Hospital, Saskatoon. Born in Stellarton, Pictou County, he was a son of the late Dan P. and Ethel (Corbett) MacDonald. He was involved in the heating and air conditioning business before retirement. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by three daughters, Anne Cosgrove, Bedford; Kathy Ejack, Saskatoon; Shelagh Legere, Hammonds Plains; son, Peter, Halifax; 10 grandchildren; three brolandrythers, Rod, John, Gerard, all of North Sydney; sister, Maria MacInnis, Toronto; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Helen Lahey. The body is in Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave. North Saskatoon, Sask. S7K 2L7. The body will be cremated. A memorial service will be at a later date in Halifax. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Cancer Society.

Three die in N.B. accidents

An elderly Albert County man killed Sunday when the farm tractor he was operating overturned was among at least three people to die as a result of motor vehicle mishap in the region over the weekend. New Brunswick Highway Patrol said Simon Harrison, 61, of Stoney Creek died when the farm tractor rolled backwards down a steep driveway into the ditch where the tractor overturned, crushing him. Police said the mishap occurred at about 12:30 p.m. along the stoney Creek Road. No one else was involved. Petitcodiac NBHP members investigated the Mishap. Raymond Leger, 34, of Cap de Cocagne, was killed Saturday night when the vehicle he was driving went out of control in a turn along McKees Mills Road and stuck a utility pole. NBHP said Leger was proceding northeast along McKees Mills about three kilometers from St. Antoine when the mishap occurred shortly before 8 p.m. The lone passenger, identified as Odilon Belliveau, 34, of St. Paul was admitted at Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital Moncton but released Sunday morning. Police said neither occupants were wearing seat belts at the time. Leger was crushed under the vehicle in the mishap, said the spokesperson. Road and weather conditions are good at the time. The road leads to Highway 11 and the Town of Buctouche, NBHP in St. Antoine investigated the crash. Nick Steve LePage, 20, of Dundee, was killed when the car he was driving failled to negotiate a turn along Route 280 in Dundee and overturned serveral times, LePage was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. The crash occurred at about 5:06 p.m. No other vehicle or person was involved. Born in Grande-Digue, Leger was a son of Irenee and Dorice (Babineau) Leger. He was a fisherman by profession and attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Armand Caissie (Maria) of St. Antoine, Mrs. Laurie LeBlanc (Louise) of Cocagne and Miss Dorine Leger of Grande-Digue: several nieces and nephews. The body is at Frenette's Funeral Home, Shediac, Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mme Camille Bourgeois (Eva), 142, rue Dominion, à Moncton, est décédée, soudainement, hier, à l'hôpital Moncton, à l'âge de 76 ans.
Originaire de Breau Village, elle était fille de Marc et Alma (née LeBlanc) LeBlanc. Elle faisait partie de la paroisse du Christ-Roi, à Moncton.
Outre son mari, elle laisse dans le deuil quatre filles et un fils: Mme Francis Belliveau (Lorrain), de Leominster, Mass.; Mme René LeBlanc (Dorina), Mme Charles Léger (Sylvia), toutes deux de Moncton; Mme Larry Faudel (Jacqueline) de Montréal; Jos, de Moncton ; cinq soeurs: Mme Leda LeBlanc, de Memramcook; Mme Aldéric LeBlanc (Léa) de Bristol, Conn.; Mme Eugène Melanson (Alma), Mme Jocelyne LeBlanc, toutes deux de Moncton; Mme Emile Brun (Rosaline), de Charlottetown; un frère; Clarence, de Memramcook ainsi que 17 petits-enfants et cinq arrière-petits-enfants.
La dépouille mortelle est exposée au salon funéraire Frenette, 88, rue Church, à Moncton. Les visites sont de 14 à 16 heures puis de 19 à 21 heures. Les funérailles auront lieu, jeudi, à 9h30, avec service funèbre et l'église du Christ-Roi et l'inhumation dans le cimetière Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire, à Dieppe.

Born in New Avon, NB, he was the son of Mabel Martin and the late Victor Martin. Jerald is survived by his mother Mabel (Caissie) Martin of Minto; two sons, Mikel Martin (Patsy) and Jerry Jr. (Tate) Martin (Jeannette) both of New Avon, NB; a daughter, Nancy Legere of Fredericton; his loving companion, Yvonne Briggs of Minto; a step daughter Amanda Doucette of Moncton; two brothers, Clarence Martin (Paulette) of Ripples and Maurice Martin of Ontario; a sister, Irene Copeland (Murray) of Hardwood Ridge; four grandchildren, Stephen, Meagan, Sarah and Kaitlyn; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his wife Louise (Hachey) Martin and a son Stephen. Resting at the Minto Funeral Home (327-3490) where visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2002 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Minto, with Father Peter Stephen officiating. Interment will be in St. Brigit's Cemetery, Hardwood Ridge, NB. For those who wish, donations made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family. 92, Smith avenue, Parrsboro, died Thursday in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late James and Clara (MacAloney) Legere. He retired after 50 years of service with Parrsboro Fire Department. He served in the Merchant navy during the First and Second world wars. He was a member of Parrsboro Shore, Historical Society, Parrsboro Curling Club and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 45. He was named Parrsboro's Citizen of the Year in 1985. He is survived by his wife, the former Carrie McCully; a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Cormier, Amherst; two sons, Archie, Parrsboro; Steward, Bass River; two brothers, Dexter, Phillip, both of Parrsboro; Several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Frederick (Sonny); two brothers, Frederick, James. The body is in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funerals will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Brigid's Roman Catholic Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Patrick Cosgrove officiating. Spring Burial will be in church cemetery. Donations may be made to any charity.
