Livain Cormier (1923-2007) SAINT-ANTOINE -
À l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncton, le mercredi 18 juillet 2007, à l’âge de 84 ans, est décédé après une longue maladie Livain Cormier, domicilié à Saint-Antoine. Né à Cocagne le 8 juin 1923, il était le fils de feu Cloris et de feu Olive (née Léger) Cormier. Il laisse dans le deuil son amie spéciale, Doris Whalen de Saint-Antoine; une fille, Jocelyne Cormier (Léon Caissie) de Shediac River; deux soeurs: Maria Dollard et Cécile Allain, toutes deux de Moncton; deux frères: Eric (Alice) de Saint-Antoine et Laurie (Jeanne) de Moncton, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces. Les visites auront lieu à la salle mortuaire de l’église de Notre-Dame. Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur de Notre-Dame, le samedi 21 juillet, à 11h. Janet Mary (Robichaud) Legere passed away in Chilliwack, British Columbia on April 4, 2007. She was a member of St. Mary's parish. Formerly of Fredericton, she was a member of St. Dunstan's Roman Catholic Church. Born in Rexton, NB on December 31, 1907 moving to Chipman and then to Fredericton, where she worked at the Hartt Shoe Factory and then at Palmer and McLellan Shoe Factory from 1922 until she retired in 1977. She and her husband Frank were actively involved with running the Progressive Conservative voting polls. Janet was a member of the Catholic Women's League for many years. Survived by her daughter Joanne (Legere) Pond; son Paul Legere; two sisters Viola (Roland) Deslauriers, Geraldine Hector; one brother Leo (Treva) Robichaud; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents William and Mary (Britton) Robichaud; husband Frank Legere; two brothers Fulton and Eddie; 4 sisters Katheline Robichaud, Frances Hersey, Mary Gallant, and Edna Foster. Clara Landry 1916 - 2007 Clara Landry, 90, wife of the late Henry Landry, of Castle Manor, Moncton, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital following a stroke. Born September 18, 1916 in Scoudouc, she was the daughter of the late Théotime and Carmelice (Melanson) Leger. She was the past-proprietor of Landry's Confectionery specializing in 'poutines rapées'. An avid card player, Clara also loved to play darts and was a volunteer for Foyer Inc., St-Vincent-de-Paul, Karing Kitchen, United Way, and the Cancer Society. She is survived by her sisters, Emma Losier of Campbellton, Marie Himmens of Hamilton, ON; her brothers-in-law; her sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Anna Gaudet, Arzélie Bourque, Lucien, Antoine and Léandre. Alice McDonald 1931 - 2007 BOUCTOUCHE, NB - Alice McDonald, age 75, of Manoir Saint-Jean Baptiste, Bouctouche for the last four and a half months, and formally of Irving Blvd., Bouctouche passed away after a lengthy illness at the residence on Thursday April 12th, 2007. She was the wife of Michael McDonald of Bouctouche. Born in Bouctouche on July 7th, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Jim (Jacques) and the late Virginie (Née Léger) Cormier. Alice is survived by her husband, Michael; seven daughters, Gisèle Savoie (Bernard) of Sainte-Anne de Kent, Murielle McDonald of Charlottetown, PE, Rose-Marie Allain (Conrad) of Bouctouche Bay, Claudette LeBlanc (Roger) of Moncton, Dorine Després (André), Aurella Maillet (Luc) both of Bouctouche, Pauline Cormier (Pierre) of Fredericton; four sons, Raymond (Marie-Louise), André (Della) both of Bouctouche, Guy of Montreal, Qué., Paul of Edmonton, Alberta; four sisters, Lina Hébert, Alfreda LeBlanc, Rita LeBlanc all of Bouctouche, Yvonne Melanson (Gerald) of Ayer, Mass; one brother, Antoine of Bouctouche; 18 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Née le 8 décembre 1926, elle était fille de feu Laurent et Gertrude (Aubé) Arseneau. Elle laisse dans le deuil trois fils: père Jean-Marc de Beresford, Lionel (Mariette) de Petit-Rocher et Charles (Charline) de Pointe-à-la-Croix, Qc; deux filles: Solange Haché (Bernard) de Beresford et Jeanne Guérette-Long (Terry) de Bathurst; quatre frères: Prudent, Anselme, Yvon (Claudette) et Martin (Rosa); une soeur, Lyne Légère (Léo) de l’Ontario; sept petits-enfants: Susie Line, Patrick, Nadine, Chantal, Marie-Êve, Josée et Janie; un arrière-petit-fils, Aiden, ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-soeurs, neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines.

The death of Rita (Cavanaugh) McLaughlin, wife of John McLaughlin of Saint John, NB, occurred on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Milltown, NB, on June 3, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Hebert and Annie (Francoeur) Cavanaugh. Rita was dedicated to her faith and was a member of St. Pius X Church. She was a member of the Home and School Program, Blockparent and the CWL. Rita was an avid volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital, where she was a "fixture" in the lobby, selling tickets for fundraisers. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a devoted wife of 58 years. Besides her husband, Rita is survived by her sons, Joseph (Deborah) of Saint John, Wm. Michael of Vancouver, BC, Dr. John L. Mark R. Leger, 46, of Fitchburg, died Friday evening, June 9, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after an illness. He was born on Oct. 31, 1959, in Fitchburg, the son of Norman and Bernadette (Rochette) Leger and had lived all of his life in Fitchburg. He attended school in Fitchburg. Mr. Leger had been a die setter for the past 18 years. He had worked at Solo Cup and was currently working at F&M Machinery, both in Leominster. In his spare time, he enjoyed landscaping and carpentry work. He also loved going four-wheeling on his ATV. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Mr. Leger leaves his son, Kevin M. Leger of Acton; his daughter, Christin J. Leger of Leominster; his mother with whom he lived, Bernadette (Rochette) Leger of Fitchburg; one brother, Patrick Leger and his wife, Dawn, of Athol; three sisters, Norma Leger of Fitchburg, Kathleen and her husband, Louis Cummings, of Townsend, and Lucy and her husband, Arthur Gagnon, of Fitchburg; one granddaughter, Destiny; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

C’est avec grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Bernard Boudreau, âgé de 66 ans, de Grand-Barachois, le samedi 23 juin 2007, à l’Hôpital régional Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont, après une longue lutte contre le cancer. Né le 8 septembre 1940 à Boudreau Office, il était fils de feu Alphonse et Germaine (Despres) Boudreau. Il manquera beaucoup à son épouse depuis 43 ans et 10 mois, Léa (Belliveau), et leurs deux filles: Julie Boudreau de Grand-Barachois et Nadine Shaffer (Derrick) de Haute-Aboujagane; plusieurs soeurs et frères: Thérèse Léger (John), Yolande Boudreau de Shédiac, Anita Hébert (Arice), Clorice Boudreau (Hectorine) et Louis Boudreau (Tilla), tous de Grand-Barachois, Yvette Cormier (Evariste) de Boudreau Ouest, Sr Juliette Boudreau, ndsc et Imelda Cormier (Léo Paul), toutes de Moncton; un petit-fils, Maxime Shaffer, ainsi que plusieurs nièces, neveux et amis. Outre ses parents, il a été précédé dans la tombe par une soeur, Yvonne LeBlanc. Il était propriétaire et gestionnaire du club de golf Pine Needles à Haute-Aboujagane. Il aimait naviguer son bateau à voiles de 35 pieds "Mon Rêve" qu’il a construit pendant trois hivers, voyager, chasser et faire de la peinture acrylique. Il était membre de l’Association atlantique et canadienne des surintendants de golf et membre du Club de corvettes du Grand Moncton. La famille recevra parents et amis à compter de 14h, le mardi 26 juin, à la Maison funéraire Frenette ltée, 396, rue Main à Shédiac (532-3297, www.salonfrenette.com). Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Saint-Henri de Grand-Barachois, le mercredi 27 juin, à 10h30. L’inhumation se fera au cimetière paroissial. Heures de visites: le mardi 26 juin, de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h et le mercredi 27 juin, de 9h30 jusqu’au départ (10h10). Au lieu de fleurs, un don à l’extra-mural de Shédiac ou aux secteurs des soins palliatifs ou d’oncologie de l’Hôpital Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont serait apprécié. Léo Paul Léger, 72, of Oakcroft Cresent, Moncton, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton following a lengthy illness. Born May 26, 1935 in Cocagne, he was the son of the late Irénée Léger and the late Alba Cormier. Mr. Léger owned a plumbing business and was a Real Estate Investor in Waltham, Mass. prior to his retirement. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed traveling with his family and was an involved parent to his children and in his later years to his grandchildren who became a joy to his life. Always ready to help those less fortunate with acts of kindness, Léo Paul provided Thanksgiving dinners to needing families and helped Veterans and others get back on their feet. An avid boater, he loved to read and was a member of the Royal Oaks Golf and Country Club. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 44 years and 11 months, Ella (Bourque) Léger; three sons, Mark and Tom of Waltham, Mass., Charles of Somerville, Mass.; one sister, Aline Arsenault of Saint-Antoine; two brothers, Bert Léger (Bernadette) of Cape Cod, Joe Léger (Annette) of Moncton; two grandchildren, Madeline and Nathalie. Joseph Gerard (JG) C. Leger (1925-2007) -
Gerard C. Leger, of Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on June 23, 2007. He was the son of the late Anselme Leger and Ada (Gould) Paradis. A Veteran of The Second World War, JG was employed as a Corrections Officer at the Dorchester Penitentiary, retiring in 1986. JG will be remembered as a loving family man who had a passion for hockey and a good game of cards with his family and friends. JG will be sadly missed by his wife, Rita of (59 years); and his children, Michael (Joanne), Charles (Patricia), Monique (Jim), Denise (Stephen) and Ron (Angele); as well as his many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother, Louis; and sister, Jeaninne, (Leopold Belliveau). By request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a Service at Christ-Roi church at 10:45 am on Wednesday, June 27th. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, June 27 at Christ-Roi Church Dominion St. A reception will be held following the service at the Club D'age D'or. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Imelda Brown, 91, wife of Daniel Brown of the Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Cap-Pelé passed away on Thursday, June 14th, 2007 at the Villa Providence. Born August 2nd, 1915 in Dupuis Corner, she was the daughter of the late Alphée LeBlanc and the late Adèle Landry. Mrs. Brown was a past employee with Landry Landry. She was a member of the Golden Age Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch 91 in Cap-Pelé. She is survived by three daughters, Cecilia Brun (Claude) and Isabelle Flowers (William) of Arlington, Mass., Rose Coyle (Eugene) of Etobicoke, ON; one son, Albert (Kathleen) of Tewkbury, Mass.; four sisters, Lorette Léger (Eugène) of Memramcook, Mai Ouellette (Georges) and Doris Brisson all of Browbury, QC, Maria Bourque (Gérard Landry) of Petit-Cap; three brothers, Albert LeBlanc of Petit-Cap, Roméo LeBlanc (Rhéa) of Trois- Ruisseaux, Alonzo LeBlanc of Bas Cap-Pelé; 24 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, one great great great grandchild; one daughter-in-law, Sara Martine-Brown of Cap-Pelé; and by one son-in-law, Norbert Boudreau of Cap-Pelé. Yvonne is survived by her six children, Anita LeBlanc of Dieppe, Dorina LeBlanc (Lionel), Gilberte Nowlan, Léonard (Fédélice), Roger (Emilie), all of Saint-Antoine, Yvon (Annette) of McKees Mills; one brother, Mélème (Mélanie) of Bouctouche; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by one son. William (1961); five sisters, Elise, Amanda, Béatrice, Marie-Rose, Délima; four brothers, Wilfred, Zoël, Tranquil, Juste; one grandchild, Michel. He was a radio operator with the Armed Forces (1975-1977), a member of the Canadian Paraplegic Association in Moncton and a saw sharpener with Moncton Saw Service (1977-1979). Terrance sponsored a foster child in Peru. Terrance will be greatly missed by his three sisters, Diane Léger (Maurice) of Grande-Digue, Kathy Melanson (Edward) of Riverview, Tamara Melanson (Michael) of Greenwood, N. S.; four brothers, Bruce (Scott) of Lake Cowichan, B.C., Peter (Nancy) of Riverview, Paul (Colleen) of Oromocto, Reid (Norma) of Lower Coverdale; a sister-in-law, Jill Woodhead-Smith of Murray Corner and by several nieces and nephews. Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil deux fille: Gérarda Daigle d’Aldouane, et Marguerita (Guy Léger) de Pointe-Sapin; deux fils: Gerald et Edgar, tous deux de Pointe-Sapin, Henri de Halifax, Ludger. de Baie-Sainte-Anne, et Uldéric le Richiboucto , deux soeurs: Sarah (Archie Daigle) de Kouchibouguac, et Florence (Alfred Daigle) de Pointe-Sapin, ainsi que 13 petits-enfants.
Une soeur et deux frères: Eilise, Xavier et Edgar, l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
M. Daigle était membre de la Légion royale canadienne branche no 30 de Richibouctou. Il a servi outre-mer durant la Deuxième Guerre mondiale avec le 22e Régiment Royal.
La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Salle mortuaire de l’église de Pointe- Sapin. Les funérailles auront lieu le mercredi 2 octobre à 16h en l’église Saint-Joseph de Pointe-Sapin et, de là, au cimetière de l’endroit.

ST. JOSEPH Mrs. Marguerite LeBlanc, 79, of Foyer St. Thomas in St. Joseph, died on Saturday, January 22, 1994 at the Dr. Gorge L. Dumont Hospital after a brief illness.
Born on November 17, 1914, in Shediac, she was the daughter of the late Hebert and Elise (Leger) Goguen. She was a homemaker, and attended St. Thomas de Memramcook Church in St. Joseph.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ronald LeBlanc (Stella) of Memramcook; six sons, Howard and Camille LeBlanc of Toronto, Ont., Ovila LeBlanc of Waltham, Mass., Lee LeBlanc of Fox Creek, Donald LeBlanc of Vancouver, B.C., Larry LeBlanc of Moncton; three sisters, Mrs. Jesse Powers (Stella) of Salisbury, Mrs. Curtis Curwin (Phylis) of Shediac, Mrs. Eddee Leger (Dora) of Grande-Digue; two brothers, Joseph Goguen of Toronto, Ont., Desire Gguen of Moncton; 21 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Emile LeBlanc in 1970; four sons, Peter, Arthur, Joseph and Jimmy; one sister, Edmee; two brothers, Pierre and Marcel.

Maximin Belliveau -
The death took place on Sunday at St. Paul, Kent County, of Mr. Maximin Belliveau, at the advance age of 78 years. Mr. Belliveau was born in Scoudouc on March 10, 1847, but later moved to Cape Bauld. From there, while still a young man he went with his father to what was then called Bishopland, Kent Co., and was one of the first settlers there. It was later organized into the parish of St. Paul. The deceased gentleman who was highly respected throughout the community in which he resided for so many years, is survived by 117 descendants, including nine sons, four daughters, ninety-five grandchildren and nine greatgrand children. The sons are Aime, manager of L'Evangeline, Moncton; Alphonse, also of this city; Oliver, Henry and Abel, in Waltham, Mass.; Thaddy, Dominic, Gilbert and Phileas, in St. Paul, Kent County. The daughters are Mrs. Jude Leger, of Scoudouc; Mrs. Arthur Normandeau, Rumford, ME.; Mrs. Albert Arsenault, Salem, Mass., and Mrs. George Hebert of Waltham, Mass. The funeral was held Tuesday at St. Paul Church with Rev. Father L. D. Cormier, parish priest, officiating. the pallbearers were six sons of the deceased, Aime, Dominic, Thaddy, Gilbert, Phileas and Alphonse. PER.

Mr. Jude Landry -
One of the oldest residence of College Bridge passed away yesterday morning in the person of Mr. Jude Landry at the age of 78 years. The deceased was born in Memramcook and had spent all his life in Memramcook and College Bridge in both of which places he was well known and highly esteemed. He is survived by his wife, one son and four daughters. The son is Lea, of the C.N.R., Moncton. The daughters are Mrs. Garnett Hilchey and Mrs. Stanley Hilchey, of Oldtown, ME., Mrs. Nap Leger, of Shediac, and Mrs. Edgar LeBLanc of Moncton.He is also survived by one brother, Mr. Donat Landry, of College Bridge and one sister, Mrs. Gerald LeBLanc, of College Bridge. The late Mr. Landry was for many years, foreman for Mr. A. E. Trites, Railway Contractor in railway constuction work, and for some years he was foreman on the first street railway built in Moncton many years ago. Deceased was also a member of long standing in the C.M.B.A. The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at Memramcook.

Mrs. A. J. Cormier Shediac, N.B., March 18 -
The Community was deeply shocked this morning to hear of the death of one of its leading citizens in the person of Mrs. A. J. Cormier, which occurred today after a short illness. The cause of death is given as heart failure. The late Mrs. Cormier was 66 years of age and was one of the most highly respected citizens of this town. For thirty years, following the death of her husband, she had conducted a store here and had by her unfailing energy built up a splendid business. She was held in high esteem throughout the district and the province by reason of her fine business judgement and ability. The deceased lady is survived by three sons, to whom the sympathy of the community goes out as it does to the three daughters who are also living. The sons are: Rev. Father Leonide, St. Paul, Kent County, Dr. Oliver, of Edmundston, and Dr. Antoine, of Moncton. The daughters are Mrs. Charles Garron, of Rimouski and Misses Edna and Irene, at home. One brother, Angus, of Richibucto also survives, as do three sisters, Mrs. Adolph LeBlanc, of Richibucto, Mrs. Albert Goguen, of Cocagne, Miss Silva Leger, of Shediac. The funeral will be held on Friday morning with interment in St. Joseph Roman Catholic cemetery.

Highly Esteemed Resident St. Anselme Passed Away After Serious Illness.
Following an illness of three weeks duration J. Edgar Bourgeois, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Bourgeois, St. Anselme, passed away in the Hotel Dieu yesterday morning. Although his condition had been considered serious from the beginning, it was not until a few days ago that it because alarming and death came as a great shock to his immediate family and friends. He was well known throughout the district, where his passing will be deeply mourned by a host of friends. The deceased lived the greater part of his life in St. Anselme, and for the past several years had been engaged in the milk business. He took an active interest in the affairs of the community in which he lived and was highly respected by everyone. A man of fine character, Mr. Bourgeois contributed much to the progress of the district and in his passing the community sustains a severe loss. Mr. Bourgeois is survived by his widow and two children, Jeannette and John Charles. He also leaves his parents, six sisters and five brothers. The sisters are, Mrs. George T. leBlanc, of St. Anselme; Mrs. Osias Richard, of Moncton, and the Misses Estelle, Germaine, Eva and Marguerite, all at home. The brothers are Alban, engineer and the steamship Cavalier; Alfred, of Moncton; Philas, Quincy, Mass.; Camille, at home, and Rene, student at Bathurst College. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon from the Roman Catholic Church, St. Anselme.

The death of Simon L. Leger, of Leger Brook, occurred at the home of his grand-daughter, Mrs. Theotime Leger, of that place, at five o'clock on Monday afternoon, following a short illness. He leaves to mourn one son, Desire, of Portland, Maine, two daughters, Rev. Sister Marie Juvinien, of the Sister's of Charity, Quebec, and Mrs. Edmund Doiron, Little Cape; also three sisters, Mrs. Pacific Bourque, of Great Shemougue; Mrs. Calixte Melanson, of Little Cape; and Mrs. Sam Richard, of Shediac; one brother, Julien Leger, of Lynn, Mass. The funeral will problably be held on Wednesday morning at Cape Bauld.

Yvon Bourgeois (1907 - 2007) SHEDIAC, NB -
Yvon Bourgeois, age 100, passed away after a brief illness at his residence, Villa Providence, Shediac, on December 1, 2007. Born in Grande-Digue on October 30, 1907, he was the son of the late Napoleon Bourgeois, and the late Helene Robichaud. He was a retired Farmer and fishermen and truck driver, self employed for the last fifty years. He was employed with the provincial government, a forman with the dept of highway in Cocagne. Yvon Bourgeois was very well involved in his community, he was the founding member of the Caisse Populaire de Grande-Digue and was the last surviving founding member. He represented the parish of Dundas at the level of Kent county for many years. He attended La-Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue. Survived by five daughters, Carmella Bourgeois (Roger), Anita Cormier (Leonide), Lucia Richard, Grande-Digue, Elise Leger (Alcide), Barachois, Cecile Parrot, Halifax; two sons, Edmond Bourgeois (Lorraine), Thomas Bourgeois, Grande-Digue; four sisters, Marguerite Gallant (Late Freddy), Haverhill Mass., Leonise Langis (Late Robert), Moncton, Anita Strom (Late Robert), Jeanne Epping (Late Charles), Seattle Wash.; 32 grandchildren; and 44 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, the late Helene Robichaud (Bourgeois)(2004); one son, Zoel (1993); one daughter, Juliette (1991); three sisters, Viola (1984), Aline (1971), Lucia (1999); three brothers, Alderic (1997), Edmond, Laurie, at a very young age. Il était maître chant pendant plus de quarante ans à Grande-Digue, membre fondateur de la Caisse Populaire de Grande-Digue et en a été le président pendant plusieurs années. Il était le dernier membre fondateur. Il représentait la paroisse de Dundas au niveau du conté de Kent pendant plusieurs années. André Caissie 1937 - 2007 André Caissie, age 70, of Saint-Antoine and Richiboucto-Village, passed away suddenly at the Stella Maris de Kent Hospital, Sainte-Anne de Kent on Thursday, November 29th, 2007. Born in Sainte-Anne de Kent on May 22nd, 1937, he was the son of the late Albert and the late Suzanne (Née Caissie) Caissie. André is survived by a special friend Jeanne Léger of Saint-Antoine; six sisters; Emerise Gaudet (Alfred Dupuis), Eugénie Léger, Odila Cormier all of Barachois, Bernice Cormier of Richiboucto-Village, Laudia Williams of Dieppe, Mélina Richard of Manoir St-Jean Baptiste, Bouctouche; five brothers; Emerie (Corinne), of Sainte-Anne de Kent, Baptiste (Yvonne), Gerard (Angèla) both of Saint-Antoine, Régis (Aline) of Grande-Digue, Charles (Adeline) of Barachois, and several nephews and nieces. Eva (Caissie) Arseneau, 75, of Newburyport, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Anna Jacques Hospital, Newburyport. She was born in Grande Digue, New Brunswick, Canada, and was the daughter of Lumina (Gallant) Caissie of Canada and the late Phillipe Caissie. Besides her mother, she is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Advice J. Arseneau of Newburyport; a son, Bernard Arseneau of Ellsworth, Maine; three daughters, Maria and Bobby Wells of Winter Haven, Fla., Louise and William Robitaille of Newburyport and Diane and William Hart of Newburyport; brothers, Joseph and Albert Caissie both of Canada; sisters, Gloria Belliveau, Andréa Gaudet and Maria Leger all of Canada; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Arthur and Gerard Caissie and Leoze Gallant. Memorial donations may be made in Eva's memory to a charity of one's choice.

Jacob Drisdelle -
The death of Jacob Drisdelle occurred at his home in St. Anthony, Kent County, last evening at 7 o'clock following an illness of only one day. Mr. Drisdelle was stricken with a paralytic stroke yesterday morning and failed to regain consciousness, rapidly sinking until death occurred. His passing, which came as a great shock to members of his family and wide circle of friends. Mr. Drisdelle was born in Upper Aboujagane 63 years ago, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Drisdelle, and resided in that community until fourteen months ago when he removed to St. Anthony where he had since lived. He was a highly respected farmer. Mr. Drisdelle, who was twice married, is survived by his second wife who before her marriage was Mrs. Domethild Cormier, four daughters and five sons. The daughters are Mrs. Eddie LeBlanc, Mrs. Nap Hebert, both of Moncton; Mrs. Arcade Bourque and Miss Beatrice Drisdelle, of Aboujagane, and the sons are Timothy Drisdelle, Joggins Mines, N.S.; David, Moncton; Leandre, Jacob, Jr., and Julien, all of Aboujagane. Three brothers, Sigfroi, Jaddeus and Thomas, all of Aboujagane, and two sisters, Mrs. Patrick Vienneau, of Fitchburg, Mass., and Mrs. Tanis Leger, Joggins Mines, N.S. The funeral will take place in Upper Aboujagane, the exact date to be announced later.

Mrs. Maxime LeBlanc
The death of Mrs. Maxime LeBlanc, of Upper Aboujagane, occurred in the Hotel Dieu here early yesterday morning and the news of her passing will be learned with deep regret by a wide circle of friends in Shediac and throughout that section of her native county. Her death followed a brief illness of about a week's duration. The deceased was 48 years of age and was formerly Miss Julliene Leger, of Cormier Village. Mrs. LeBlanc's husband was a partner of the E.E.LeBlanc Co. of Shediac and Upper Aboujagane. She has a host of friends who will regret to learn of her sudden passing. She leaves to mourn eight children, Beatrice and Napolian, of Shediac; Naralie, Eustache, Elizabeth, Mary, Melanie, and Edna at home; one brother, Placide Leger, one sister, Miss Mary Leger, both of Cormier Village, and one half-brother David Leger, also of Cormier Village. The funeral will take place Wednesday morning from the church at Upper Aboujagane with Requiem High Mass 9 o'clock.

The parish of Scoudouc was saddened by the death of Phillip M. Melanson, who died at the age of 62 on Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock, at his home. Although the deceased had been ill throughout the summer his passing came as a shock to the community. One Daughter (Alma) Mrs. Blair Melanson, of Scoudouc; one sister, Mrs. Theotime Leger, of Scoudouc, and one brother, Joseph Melanson, of Malakoff, also survive. The funeral service was held Monday morning from St. Jacques le Majeur church, with high mass by Rev. Father Joseph L'Archeveque. Interment was made in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers were Phillas, Alphonse, Leandre and Anthony Melanson, sons of the deceased, and Arcade and Alberty Melanson, nephews of the deceased. The large number present at the funeral service as well as the spiritual offerings attested to the high esteem in which the late Mr. Melanson was held.

The community was deeply mourned by the death of Mrs. Fidele Melanson, whose death occurred here Saturday morning. She had been ill for several weeks but her death was unexpected and came as a shock to her many relatives and friends throughout the district. The Deceased was 82 years of age, one of the oldest and most respected residents in this section of the county. She leaves to mourn five daughters and four sons, Mrs. Julie Bourque, Lewisville; Mrs. Willie Leger, Rumford, Maine; Mr. H. Cormier and Mrs. J. Boudreau, Campbellton; Mrs. I. Lirette, Robichaud Office; Frank, of Moncton, and Placide, Romuald and Alphonse, all of this place. Four sisters and three brothers are also left to mourn.

The death of Mrs. Patrick H. Melanson occurred at her home in Little Cape Friday at the age of 83 years. She had been ill for three months. The deceased was formerly Miss Christine Thibodeau, of Leger Corner, and since her marriage has resided in Little Cape. She leaves to mourn her husband, two sons, Clovis, at home, and Clifford, in Fitchburg, Mass.; also two daughters, Mrs. Adolphe Cormier, of Robichaud Office, and Mrs. Theotime Leger, of Leger Brook. The funeral was held this afternoon from her home to the parish church in Cape Bauld. The deceased had a wide circle of friends that will regret to learn of her passing.

Mrs. Vivine Leger
The death of Mrs. Vivine Leger, widow of Philip P. Leger, 25 Belliveau avenue, occurred at the Hotel Dieu yesterday morning. Widely known in Moncton and Memramcook, she enjoyed a large circle of friends and was highly esteemed and her death will be greatly regretted. Mrs. Leger was 78 years of age. She had been a patient in the hospital for several weeks receiving treatment for a fracture of one of her hips sustained two months ago. Surviving are five sons, Anthony, of Montreal, Phileas, Alyre, Arthur and Leo, all of this city, and two daughters, Mrs. Judith Melanson and Mrs. Z. M. Leger, both of Moncton. Her husband predeceased her about three years ago. Mrs. Leger was a native of Memramcook, but early in her lifetime she removed to Moncton and had been a resident of this city for many years. The funeral will take place Saturday morning with service in l'Assomption Church at 8 o'clock. Interment will be made in Shediac Road cemetery.

Mrs. Marie Leger -
Relatives and friends from all sections of the district attended the funeral of Mrs. Marie Leger, wife of Philippe Leger, of this city, which took place in l'Assomption Church yesterday morning. The church was well filled during the service, a fact which combined with the numerous floral tributes, mass cards and other expressions of sympathy received, attested to the high esteem in which Mrs. Leger was held by those who knew her. A solemn high mass of reguiem was sung by Rt. Rev. Mgr. H. D. Cormier, D.P., pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. Father R. Boudreau as deacon, and Rev. Father Pellerin as sub-deacon. The body was placed in the receiving vault in the Shediac Road cemetery and will remain there until spring when interment will be made in Notre Dame. Mrs. Leger's death, which occurred in the family home at 258 High street, occasioned deep regret throughout Westmorland and Kent Counties where she enjoyed the esteem and friendship of a wide circle.

Mrs. Edward Leger -
Following an illness of three years' duration, Mrs. Edward Leger, Spring street, passed away in the City Hospital yesterday morning. Death had been expected for the past few weeks but it came a a severe shock to her immediate family an friends. Mrs. Leger was held in high esteem by all who knew her and her passing is regretted. She was born 65 years ago in St. Mary's Kent County, and came to Moncton in 1912 and had resided here since that time. Mrs. Leger was a member of L'Assomption Church and prior to her illness was actively associated with the social and religious work of the parish. She was a woman of fine character and was highly respected by many friends throughout Kent and Westmorland counties. Surviving are her husband and six sons, Henry, Fidele, Alban, Sylvain, Levi and Zoel, all of Moncton. The body is resting at Alban Leger's residence, 132 Lester avenue and the funeral will take place on Saturday morning with service in L'Assomption Church. Interment will be made in Shediac Road cemetery.

Gordon K. Carpenter 70, of Moncton with his loving wife and family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, December 28, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Clarence and Vonnie (Keay) Carpenter. Gordon was a retired sales representative for Gibbons Foods Ltd. and C.M. Carpenter Ltd. He was a member of the United Church of Canada, former member of the Moncton Bicentennial Skating Club and former member of the Cardiac Wellness Clinic at The University of Moncton (CEPS). He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, crafts, was an avid walker, was well known for his quick wit, humour, friendly smile, but first and foremost was his love for his family. Jeannette LeBlanc passed away Friday morning, December 14th at the Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston after a long illness. She was 68. Born on May 24, 1939 in Dorchester, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Rene and Ozelie (Leger) LeBlanc. She has been a Waltham resident for over 40 years. A retired registered nurse, Ms. LeBlanc had been employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford. She had graduated nursing school at the now George Dumont Hospital in Moncton, New Brunswick. Ms. LeBlanc is survived by her sister, Carmel and her husband, Richard Ahern of Ashland and her brothers, Leo LeBlanc of Waltham, Dolan and his wife, Doris LeBlanc of Bathurst, NB and Raymond and his wife, Audrey LeBlanc of Bowmanville, ON. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, Trapelo Road, Waltham, at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date in New Brunswick. Yvon Léger, 84, husband of Nora, passed away on December 17, 2007 at the Dr. George L. Dumont hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born April 24, 1923 in Dieppe, he was the son of the late Alban Léger and the late Julie Léger. He was employed by General Motors in Oshawa, Ontario for twenty-eight years. He attended the St-Henrie du Grand-Barachois Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus - 4th degree and a member of the club D'age D'or in Grand Barachois. Apart from his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Denise Stephens (Doug) of Vancouver, BC; three sons, Robert Léger (Melba Gruntz) of Whitby, Ontario, Peter Léger of Oshawa, Ontario and Paul Léger of Calgary, Alberta; sister, Dorine Walker (Frank) of Mississauga, Ontario; two brothers, Clarence of St-Paul and Gérald Léger of Dieppe; nine grandchildren, Lori-Anne, Roxanne, Mathieu, Melissa, Holly, Ashley Rose, Tiffiny, Jennifer and Emelie; five great- grandchildren, Bradley, Gavin, Gage, Misha and Hyatt along with several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Friday December 21 from 2 until 4 pm as well as from 7 until 9 pm and Saturday December 22 from 9 until 10 am. A funeral service will be held at St. Henrie du Grand Barachois Roman Catholic Church on Saturday December 22 at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at the Parish cemetery later in the spring.
