COMEAU, Dorothy Marguerite (Aunt Dot) -
80, Hillside Villa, Joggins, passed away Monday, October 7, 1996, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born at Beech Hill, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Bella (Casey) Legere. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins. She is survived by sons, Ernest Jr.and wife Sue, Barrie, Ont.; David and wife Martha, Peterborough, Ont.; brothers, Jim, Bathurst, N.B.; Joe, Oakville, Ont.; granddaughter, Michelle Comeau, Toronto, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; infant son, Donald; sisters, Genevieve in infancy, Marjorie LeBlanc; brothers, Basil, Austin. Her remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, with visiting hours today (Thursday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at the funeral home this afternoon at 3:45 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins, on Friday at 10 a.m., with Rev. J.B. Christensen officiating. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery, Minudie.

70, 318 Mapleview Dr., North Sydney, died August 11, 1993, in Northside General Hospital, North Sydney. Born in Sackville, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Winnifred (Legere) White. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, North Sydney. She is survived by three daughters, Florence (Mrs. Rich Plane), Alliston, Ont.; Sylvia (Mrs. Nick Mansfield), Sydney Mines; Naomi (Mrs. Robert Mathews), North Sydney; four sons, Blair, Roger, Tommy, all of St. Catharines, Ont.; Chris, at home; three brothers, Donald, Amherst; Lawrence, Ronnie, both of Scarborough, Ont.; sister, Mrs. Florence Russell, Stephenville, Nfld.; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John T.; son, John Edward. Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Rev. Peter Piva officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Arrangements under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.

LANDRY, Rev. Bernard J. -
63, Halifax, died October 24, 1992, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna (Cormier) Landry. He was ordained to the priesthood in Halifax on March 18, 1965. His first appointment to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Joggins, began 36 years of priestly ministry as assistant priest and pastor in a number of parishes in the Archdiocese of Halifax. Other parishes he served at included, St. Charles and Nativity of Our Lady, Amherst; St. Anselm, West Chezzecook; St. Mary's Basilica, St. Lawrence, St. Patrick, St. Stephen, St. John the Baptist and St. Agnes, all in Halifax, where he was appointed pastor in July of this year. He was on loan to the Diocese of Yarmouth from 1970-1974, where he served at St. Joseph Parish, Kentville and St. Louis Parish, Annapolis Royal. He served on a number of diocesan committees and commissions. Among these were the Diocesan Pastoral Council, Council of Priests and the Ecumenical Commission. He was also dean of the Halifax West Deanery and a consultor of the Archdiocese of Halifax. He was the spiritual director of the Halifax Diocesan Council of the Catholic Women's League. While in Amherst, he served as chaplain at the Atlantic Provinces Resource Centre for the Hearing Impaired, a service he continued following his return to Halifax. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Rayworth, Amherst; Mrs. Hazel Legere, Oromocto, N.B.; a nephew; two nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence; two sisters, Alice, Helen. The body will be in St. Agnes Rectory, Mumford Road, Halifax after 3 p.m. today. The Office of the Dead will be 8 p.m. today in St. Agnes Church. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Agnes Church, Archbishop Austin E. Burke officiating. The body will be transferred to St. Charles Parish, Amherst, where funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in parish cemetery.
