She was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in Europe and South Africa as a nursing sister. Upon returning to Canada, she took up residence in Moncton and for several years operated Mills Nursing Home, 12 Dufferin St. She was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6.1
