BEDFORD, Pa. -- Exilda M. (Leger) Cote, 84, of Bedford, formerly of 155 Fourth St., Leominster, Mass., died Wednesday, March 8, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Bedford Memorial Hospital after an illness.
She was born April 22, 1915, in Fitchburg, Mass., the daughter of Alfred D. and Della (Maillet) Leger, and had lived there before moving to Leominster many years ago and later to Pennsylvania. She graduated from St. Joseph School in Fitchburg and Fitchburg Vocational School. For a short time, she worked at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Conn.
Mrs. Cote and her husband owned and operated the former Cote Bros. Photo Shop at 958 Main St. in Fitchburg for many years until its closing in 1950.
She was a member of St. Thomas Church and a former member of St. Cecilia's Church in Leominster.
She leaves four brothers, Alcide Leger and Alferi Leger, both of Fitchburg, Leo Leger of Springfield, Mass., and Emile Leger of Keene, N.H.; two sisters, Theresa Simard of Leominster and Dorothea M. Kenney of Townsend, Mass.; nephews and nieces.
Her husband, Oscar J. Cote, died in 1951.
Four brothers and two sisters also died before her: Clarence Leger, Henry Leger, Peter Leger, Robert Leger, Helen Legros and Regina Antongiovanni.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday at noon in St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg.
Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Leominster.
A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg.
