Doris attended Leominster schools, including St. Cecilia's School while living on French Hill. During her early adult years, Doris led quite an exciting life, often being compared to Lucille Ball.
She was employed as a model in Philadelphia, as well as New York and Lowell, MA during the 1940's.
She enjoyed traveling, spending a year in Turkey in the early 1950's before settling down in Fitchburg.
Doris was a well-known fixture on Main Street in Fitchburg as an outfitter at Parke Snow's Department Store, retiring after 31 years of service.
Following her retirement, Doris refused to slow down. She received her driver's license at age 65, and enjoyed taking long drives with family and friends. You could always find her at a yard sale or a Bingo game.
Doris loved being with the ones she loved, whether taking them out to eat or going for a ride in her latest Crown Victoria. She will be greatly missed.
There will be a graveside service for Doris at a later date. Lavery-Chartrand and Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer Street is assisting the family with final arrangements.
