J. Richard Leger of Leominster; formerly of Fitchburg; 71 LEOMINSTER -
J. Richard Donald Leger, 71, of Leominster, formerly of Fitchburg, died Monday, June 6, 2011 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester. Mr. Leger was born in Fitchburg, January 21, 1940, one of twelve children born to Alphee and Valida (Roy) Leger and has resided in Leominster for twenty five years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eileen "Lynn" (Evans) Leger; a son and daughter in law, John D. and Donna Leger of Leominster; two daughters and a son in law, Tina M. and Geoffrey Grammel of Gardner, Paula L. Leger of Fitchburg; three brothers, Raymond Leger of Ocala, FL, Gerald Leger of Lunenburg, Roger Leger of Fitchburg; four sisters, Constance Beland of Sterling, Jeanne Eads of Florida, Lillian Leger and Alice Leger both of Fitchburg. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was the brother of the late Norman Leger, Kenneth Leger, Rita Boudreau and Lorraine O'Donnell. Mr. Leger served his country for twenty years in the United States Air Force, retiring in 1977 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the armed forces, he worked twenty years as an engineering manager at Honeywell Corporation in Brighton and most recently for several years at Benchmark Electronics in Nashua, NH retiring in 2004. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf. For many years he wintered in Port St. Lucie, Florida and summered in Wells, Maine. He had attended St. Joseph's Church and St. Bernard's Church, both in Fitchburg.
LEGER -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated 8:30 AM Friday, June 10th at St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Committal prayers followed by military honors will be 11 AM Friday in the Massachusetts Veteran's Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. Calling hours are 5-8 Thursday at the Louis M.
