Edward F. Leger of Leominster, paper co. retiree, Army Vet; 79 LEOMINSTER -
Edward F. Leger, 79, of Leominster, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Health Alliance, Leominster Hospital. Mr. Leger was born in Fitchburg, December 30, 1931, a son of Alphee and Bertha (Arsenault) Leger, and has resided in Leominster for 30 years. His wife of 58 years, Cecile M. (Babineau) Leger died in October 2006. He is survived by two sons, Gary E. Leger and his wife, Patricia of Leominster, Thomas R. Leger and his wife, Ann Marie of Gardner; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Ann Leger of California; two grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late, Norman Leger and Robert Leger and his sister, Lorraine Billingham, all of Fitchburg. Mr. Leger worked for 44 years in the paper industry, during that period for seven different owners. For 22 years, he worked at the #10 Mill on Oak Hill Road and 22 years at #1 Mill on Old Princeton Road. He had worked for the James River Paper Company, Weyerhouser, Fibremark and Crocker Custom Papers, all in Fitchburg. During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Leger served his country in the United States Army. He attended St. Cecelia's Church in Leominster and St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg. He enjoyed playing bingo and had volunteered at several different bingo programs including St. Ceceila' Church, St. Bernard's Church, St. Francis Church, and Kingsmen Bingo. He enjoyed watching the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Bruins. LEGER -- A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 12 at the Pieta Chapel, St. Joseph's Cemetery, 486 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg. A visitation period will be held from 9:00 a.m. -- 10:00 a.m., Saturday prior to the service at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg.
