FITCHBURG -- Joseph E. LeBlanc, 79, of 201 Clarendon St., died Monday, Jan. 2, in his home after a short illness.
He was born on June 22, 1926, in Fitchburg, the son of the late Donat and Alice LeBlanc.
Mr. LeBlanc worked as a meter reader for the City of Fitchburg Water Department for 25 years before retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the American Legion Post 429.
Mr. LeBlanc leaves his two sons, John W. LeBlanc and his partner, Robert Richard with whom he lived, and Brian J. LeBlanc and his wife, Raeanne of Winchendon; two grandchildren, Joseph Daniel and Michael Jacob LeBlanc, both of Winchendon; many nieces and nephews. His wife of 33 years, Anita M. (Leger) LeBlanc, died in 1989. He was also predeceased by six brothers, Raymond J., Edgar J., David J., John, Ovila J. and William LeBlanc, and seven sisters, Rita Shattuck, Louise Franklin, Jeanne R. Harris, Elizabeth Levesque Scott, Pauline Jacob, Doris Eckert, and Bertha Bourque.
LEBLANC -- On Jan. 2, Joseph E. LeBlanc, 79, of Fitchburg. The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 4, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the Mass on Wed. Jan. 4, from 8 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Hospice Program c/o Diversified Visiting Nurse Association, 316 Nichols Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420.
