The death of John Arsenault, Shediac Bridge, occured Thursday at Dr. George Dumont Hospital following a brief illness. He was 78.
Born in Newberryport, Mass., he was the son of the late Emilien and Artemise (Garrant) Arsenault and attended Grand Digue Roman Catholic Church. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, former Melina Despres; seven daughters, Mrs. Stanislas Goguen (Aurore), Mrs. Albenie Babineau (Sara), Miss Dorilla Arsenault, all of Grande Digue, Mrs. Armand Leger (Jeanette) of Village des Babineau, Mrs. Omer Hebert (Florence) of Barachois, Mrs. Jude Savoie (Fernande) of Dieppe and Mrs. Ola Goguen (Juliette) of Ayer, Mass.; five sons, Adrice of Newburry Port, Mass., Roger of Seven Islands, Leonard Romeo and Robert, all of Haverhill, Mass.; three sisters, Mrs. Leonard Knox, Mrs. Artemise Ploff, both of Newburry Port, Mass.; two brothers, Deside of Florida and Alfred of California; 42 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
The body is resting at Frenette's funeral home in Shediac. The funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Grand Digue Roman Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery.
