Lorraine E. (Leger) Billingham
FITCHBURG -- Lorraine E. (Leger) Billingham, 74, of the Joseph House, 279 Daniels St., died Saturday, June 12, in her cousin’s house after an illness.
Born in Fitchburg on Oct. 24, 1929, she was the daughter of Alphe and Bertha (Arsenault) Leger. She lived most of her life in Fitchburg.
Mrs. Billingham worked as a lab technician for over 20 years at the Weyerhauser Paper Co. in Fitchburg. She then worked as a housekeeper at the Hillcrest Nursing Home for seven years. She retired in 1987.
She was an active member of the Retired Women’s Club and the Senior Citizens Center in Fitchburg. She was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Immaculate Conception Choir.
Mrs. Billingham was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Booster Club, and the Ladies of St. Anne of St. Joseph’s Church, all in Fitchburg.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Diane Billingham of Athol; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan M. and Robert D. Stocks of Andover; her two brothers, Frank Leger of San Fernando Valley, Calif., and Edward Leger of Leominster; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of Norman W. Billingham, who died in February 2001.
BILLINGHAM -- On June 12, Lorraine E. (Leger) Billingham, 74, of Fitchburg. A funeral Mass will be celebrated today at noon in St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Calling hours are today from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. in Lavery-Chartrand Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg. The burial will take place at the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests instead of flowers, that donations be made to the American Cancer Society/Massachusetts Chapter, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01702.
