FITCHBURG -- Hazel T. Barrett, 89, of 50 Day St., died Friday, Jan. 14, in Burbank Hospital, after a long Illness.
Born Aug. 20, 1910, in Nashua, N.H., she was the daughter of Leroy and Eva (Rideout) Whittemore. She attended Fitchburg High School.
Mrs. Barrett had been a finisher at the former Charlton Furniture Co. from 1949 to 1973, at which time she retired. Previously, she had worked at the former Independent Lock Co. from 1925 to 1943, serving as union steward.
She was a member of Rollstone Congregational Church.
She leaves a son, Joseph C. Dwyer of Winchendon; a brother, Bernard Whittemore of Fitchburg; three sisters, Eva Leger of Fitchburg, Bertha Blood of Fitchburg and Agnes Whittemore; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces.
Her husband, William J. "Skip" Barrett, died in 1988.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., preceded by a calling hour from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
