S. Richard Shediac (Special) -
The death of Severin Richard of 13 Gallagher Street, Shediac, occurred Tuesday at Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital following a long illness. He was 82. Born at Little Cape, he was a son of the late Sam and Emelienne (Leger) Richard. He was one of the oldest registered funeral directors in New Brunswick, first employed in 1921, and was the former owner of Richard's funeral home in Shediac. A Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, local 1310 Moncton, and a former fire chief and town alderman for Shediac during the earlier 1930's, he also operated a woodwork shop in Shediac, opening in 1921. He is survived by his wife, the former Leonie Landry, four daughters, Mrs. Joseph E. LeBlanc (Gisele), Mrs. Doris Snider and Mrs. Ronald Gould (Helen). all of Shediac, and Mrs. Kenneth Golding (Albertine) of Guelph, Ont.; eight sons, Alonzo of Lac Megantic, Que., Danile of Sudbury, Ont., Gerard of Brewer, Maine, Emile, Noe and Arthur, all of Toronto, Raymond of Saint John and Normand Richard of Shediac, one sister, Mrs. Philippe LeBlanc (Lina) of Cap Pele, 28 grandchildren and by 11 great grandchildren. The body will rest at Richard's funeral home, Shediac. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Shediac, at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
