Joseph A. Robert 'Jo-Bob' Bourque of Fitchburg, WWII vet; 87 FITCHBURG -
Joseph A. Robert "Jo-Bob" Bourque, 87, of Fitchburg, a former resident of Somerville and the Boston areas, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Health Alliance -- Marlborough Hospital. Mr. Bourque was born in Fitchburg, June 11, 1923, a son of Edmond and Elmire (Goguen) Bourque and was a 1941 graduate of Fitchburg High School. After high school, he worked in the office at General Electric Company in Fitchburg. During WWII, he served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Europe. On his return from the service, he continued his education at Becker Junior College in Worcester where he majored in Business Administration and graduated in 1948. Following his graduation, he worked at Dunn & Bradstreet in Boston and later worked at several Boston area banks. Following his retirement, he returned to the Fitchburg area. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #429 in Fitchburg. He is survived by a sister, Blanche Methot of San Jose, CA; two brothers, Francis "Bill" Bourque of Newport News, VA, Raymond Bourque of Fitchburg; a very close friend, Roy Countryman of Fitchburg, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur Bourque, Henry Bourque, Leo Bourque, Emil Bourque, Rene Bourque, Lina Morin, Yvonne Bourque, Marguerite Forest, Alice Lystila Varga, Beatrice Leger, Louise Dahart, and Lillian Bourque.
