Cecile M. (Babineau) Leger, 74, of 556 Central Street, formerly of Darlene Drive, Fitchburg, died Sunday, Oct. 1 at the Life Care Center of Leominster after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Leger was born in Fitchburg on Dec. 9, 1931, a daughter of Alban and Regina (LeBlanc) Babineau, and resided many years in Fitchburg before moving to Leominster 25 years ago. She was a 1950 graduate of St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School. For 25 years, Mrs. Leger worked as an assembler at the Foster Grant Company in Leominster, retiring in 1981. Mrs. Leger was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Fitchburg and had attended St. Cecilia’s Church, Leominster. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to Foxwoods and watching the New England Patriots as well as the Boston Red Sox. She was the sister of the late Edward Babineau of Florida, who died in 2000. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Edward F. Leger; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary E. and Patricia Leger of Fitchburg, Thomas R. and Ann Marie Leger of Gardner; two brothers Raymond Babineau of Ashburnham, Leo Babineau of Lebanon, N.H.; three sisters, Eva Provencial of Fitchburg, Florence Dauphinais of Leominster, Irene Babineau of Florida. She also leaves two grandchildren, Meagan Leger and Ryan Leger.
