LEGER, SARA -
Sara Leger wife of the late Loney Leger, formerly of Boudreau Office, passed away peacefully at the age of 101, on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the Villa Providence in Shediac. Born September 8, 1908 in Cap-Pelé, Sara was the daughter of the late Damien and Léa (Boudreau) LeBlanc. Sara attended the Bouctouche Convent and graduated in 1926 with a teaching degree from Normal School in Fredericton. In 1966 she graduated (summa cum laude) from the University of Moncton with a Bachelor in Education. Her teaching career spanned over 42 years beginning in St-André, Robichaud, Bourgeois Mills, Cap-Pelé and Dupuis Corner. In 1943 she moved to Boudreau Office where she taught for 28 years until her retirement in 1972. In 1931 her teaching career was tragically interrupted by an automobile accident whereas six persons were killed including her sister Huberte. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League, le Club d'Age d'Or de Shédiac and SERFNB. On September 28, 2006, a certificate was given to her from the Francophone Teachers and Retired Teachers of New Brunswick Society (SERFNB) to celebrate the 80th anniversary of her graduation from Normal School. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters Huberte (Gerald) Conway of Tampa, Fl. and Annette Miller of Ottawa; four grandchildren: Tanya Dale (Joe) from Albany, Ga., Dennis Miller (Kim), Cindy Clark (Greg) and Scott Miller (Bonita) all of Ottawa; six great-grandchildren: Eric, Allison, Ashley, Bradley, Avery and Jackson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her husband, she is also predeceased by her brother and sisters: Leontine Belliveau, Diana LeBlanc, Huberte LeBlanc, and Leonide LeBlanc. The family will receive relatives and friends at Frenette's Funeral Home, 396 Main Street, Shediac (532-3297) on Wednesday December 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St-Joseph's R.C. Church, Shediac, on Thursday, December 3rd at 11 am. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
