Death of J. P. Poirier -
The death of Joseph Patrice Poirier, 68 Albert Street, occurred Saturday after a two month illness. He was 77 at the time of death. He was born in Grand Digue, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Barsimme Poirier. His wife Regina Cormier, predeceased him in 1950. Mr. Cormier worked with the CNR for 18 years and retired in 1948. He is survived by eight sons; Armand, Edgar, Tilman, Azare, of Moncton, Phillip of Halifax, Patrick of Oshawa, Ont., Aurel of Fox Creek, Clair of Montreal; three daughters, Mrs. Jean LeBlanc, of Moncton, Mrs. Thomas Nowlan (Alice), of Marysville, Mrs. Camille Leger (Florine), of Fox Creek; one brother, Henry of Shediac River. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The body is resting at Frenette's Funeral Home St. George Street. Funeral will be held at the Assumption Cathedral at 9 a.m. today. Interment will be in Grande Digue Roman Catholic Cemetery.
