It is with great sadness the family of the late Rene Palma Rollin of Dartmouth, announce his passing on Friday, April 23, 2010. Born May 3, 1936, in Eastview, Ont., Rene enjoyed 32 adventurous years of travelling the world after signing with the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy) in 1953. Rene also enjoyed several years sailing with the Canadian Coast Guard after his retirement from the Forces in 1985. Rene is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline R. Belisle, Mount Uniacke; son, Michel Jean and Marc Henry (Gillian), both of Dartmouth; stepson, Ronald Legere, Edmonton; stepdaughter, Karen Legere, Dartmouth. His warm smile and wonderful hugs will be greatly missed by each of his nine grandchildren as well as his nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Andre (Liz), Port Colborne, Ont. Rene was predeceased by his parents, the late Maxime Eugene Rollin and Reina Cleroux, as well as by his beloved wife, Inez Marie (Meston); brothers, Marcel and Henry, and stepson, Richard. Rene will be sadly missed by his many friends including his loving companion, Grace Myers. The family would like to thank all medical staff who provided the compassionate care that was given to Rene throughout his illness. Visitation for Rene will take place in Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St., Dartmouth, on Monday, April 26, from 24 and 7-9 p.m. A Legion service will be performed at 7 p.m. Monday evening. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 27, at 10 a.m. in St Peters Catholic Church, 10 Maple St., Dartmouth, burial to follow in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, 767 Main St., Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society in Rene's memory.
