Elise M. (Leger) Legere, 97
ATTLEBORO - Elise M. (Leger) Legere, 97, of Attleboro passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Edward Legere.
Elise was born in Canada, the daughter of the late Alfred and Regena (Alain) Leger.
She devoted her life to raising her family.
Mrs. Legere was a member of the Attleboro community for 57 years and was a resident of Christopher Heights for the past eight years.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and reading. Elise also kept up with current events and local politics.
At one time, she worked for General Findings, a jewelry manufacturer, until her retirement several years ago.
Mrs. Legere was also a longtime communicant at Saint Joseph Church in Attleboro.
Survivors are her four children: Arthur P. Leger and his wife Pauline of Attleboro, Lorraine Romikaitis of Attleboro, Clarence Leger and his wife Barbara of Nevada, and Dorine Charest of Taunton; a sister, Bertha Devlin of Canada; two brothers, Zenon Leger of Canada, and Elie Leger of Pomona, Calif.; nine grandchildren: Alan Leger, Judy Boucher, Alayne Ford, LeeAnn Whitis, Lynette Chartier, Chris Leger, Mark Leger, Carrie-Ann Duclos and Regina Rheaume; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Bernard Leger and sister of the late Marie Lambert, Victor, Desere, Gerald and Roger Leger.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 22 at 9 a.m. from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Joseph Church, 208 South Main St., Attleboro.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in Saint Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro.
