Irene Bourque
1910 - 2003
Following a brief illness, Miss Irene Bourque passed away at The Moncton City Hospital on Thursday, September 18, 2003. She was a resident of Residence du Marais, Dieppe since 1995 and formerly lived on Acadia Avenue (Floral Avenue) Lewisville. Born in Lewisville on November 6, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Susan (Leger) Bourque. She worked at a drapery shop in Humphrey and later for many years at Barnaby's grocery store in Lewisville. Irene was confined to a wheelchair for the last twenty-seven years but she was always cheerful, loved company and never complained about her condition. She enjoyed knitting and playing cards. She was a devout Roman Catholic and attended St. Louis de France Church in Lewisville. Irene was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by a niece, Therese (Robert) Chalifoux and a nephew, Emery (Louise) Bourque, all of Massachusetts, U.S.A. She will be sadly missed by her many friends especially Mrs. Marie Belliveau. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her half sisters, Yvonne, Elise, Edna and Emma and a half brother, Adolph. Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Monday, September 22, 2003, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Tuesday from 9 am until time of departure. Funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Louis de France Roman Catholic Church with Father Paul Breau officiating on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at 10 a.m. Interment in Notre Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
