ARMSTRONG, Mary Stella (nee Leger)
1921 2005 On November 24th, after several years of long term care, Stella passed away peacefully at the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion. She joins her beloved husband Jack (deceased 1991), her sister Claire (1993) and her parents Charles and Mary Ann Leger. Born in Cornwall, Ontario, Stella, a military wife, held a variety of executive assistant positions across the country, as she accompanied her husband. They retired to Victoria in 1979 to be closer to family. She leaves behind her children, Marian and Charles (Angele), the pride and joy of her life, her grandsons Kelsey Meagher and Ciaron Armstrong, great grandson Jake Meagher, and nephews Robert (Francis), Bernard (Helen) and John (Coleen) Carriere. A talented pianist, Stella's love of music stayed with her until the end. She made many friends through her work as a volunteer with the Victoria Hospital Society and the Jazz Festival Society. A heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion for their compassionate care. Twilight drops her curtain down, and pins it with a star."
