Anna-Chiasson
PAQUETVILLE – Mrs. Anna Chiasson, 95, of Paquetville, passed away Monday, February 14, 1994, at the Regional Hospital in Bathurst. Wife of the late Louis J. Chiasson (1896-1973), she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emilie (Thériault) Godin.
She is survived by her five sons, Most Rev. Donat Chiasson, Archbishop of Moncton, Rev. Father Elphège Chiasson, pastor at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Pokemouche, Ernest and his spouse, Maria Bourque of Moncton, Victor and his spouse, Alphonsine Légère of Tracadie-Sheila, Gilles and his spouse, Diane Duffell of Ottawa; her ten grandchildren; the Chiassons of Moncton: Paul (Marie-Thérèse Belliveau), Francine (Gérald Gautreau), Gloria-Ann (Allen Hudson), Denise (Norbert Landry), Cécile (Paul Gallant), Marcia (Eugène Goguen) of Cocagne; the Paiements of Montréal: Claude (Lilianne Hamilton), Jacques (Monique Lechance), Manon (Jacques Montmarquette), Carole (Louis Francoeur); and by her eighteen great grandchildren, her two great, great granddaughters and one sister-in-law, Joséphine Chiasson-Clément of Paquetville.
Apart from her husband and her parents, she was preceded by her only daughter, Thérèse (1923-1990) (Late Léo Paiement); her two sisters Julie (1893-1913) and Sara (1896-1908); and by one granddaughter, Marcia Chiasson (1946-1956).
Remains rested at the LeGresley Funeral Home in Paquetville from February 16 to February 18 1994. Funeral mass was held on February 18, 1994, at the St-Augustin Church, presided by her sons Archbishop Donat and Father Elphège together with Most Rev. Gérard Dionne, former Bishop of Edmundston, Most Rev. André Richard, Bishop of Bathurst, Most Rev. François Thibodeau, Bishop of Edmundston and fifty priests coming from the dioceses of Moncton, Edmundston and Bathurst. A congregation of more than eight hundred persons attended the Funeral. Interment will take place in the Parish Cemetery later in the spring.
