Emile P. Léger
1907-1997
VILLA PROVIDENCE - Mr. Emile P. Léger, 90, of the Villa Providence, Shediac and formerly of Grande-Digue, passed away on Monday, July 14, 1997 at the Villa Providence after a lengthy illness.
Born in Grande-Digue, he was the son of the late Placide Léger and the late Marguerite Dupuis. Mr. Léger was the former proprietor and operator of Gilbert’s Corner Service Station for 20 years before his retirement. He attended La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, was a member of the Golden Age Club and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree in Grande-Digue.
Mr. Léger is survived by three daughters, Germaine Boucher (Guy) of Shediac Bridge, Marguerite Goguen (Bernard) of Dieppe, Angela Léger (Paul-Emile) of Grande-Digue; one step-daughter, Jeannine Savoie (Aapit) de Shediac, one son, Antoine “Tony” Léger (Hartance) of Grande-Digue; one step-son, Valmond Léger of Cocagne; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Emilia (Henri) Léger and his second wife Yvonne (Richard) Léger (1992).
Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, Ltd., 396 Main St., Shediac (532-3297) with visiting hours on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6:00 p.m. until time of funeral. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Grande-Digue, on Wednesday, July 16, 1997 at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
