ACADIEVILLE (Special) - Mrs. Genevieve (Jane) Daigle, 93, of La Villa Maria, St. Louis de Kent, and formerly of Acadieville, died Sunday at the home after a brief illness.
Born in Acadieville, she was a daughter of the late Calixte and Emilienne (Chevarie) Martin and attended Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Acadieville.
She is survived by her third husband, Alphee Daigle; four daughters, Mrs. Julie McLaren of Guelph, Ont., Mrs. Marie Laughlen of Toronto, Marie-Anne Barrieau of Beloeil, Que., and Mrs. Ovilla Arsenault (Florence) of Old Town, Me.; eight step-daughters, Mrs. Wilfred Gauvin (Aurore) of St. Anselme, Mrs. Aubin Gauvin (Yvonne) of Moncton, Mrs. Emery Pellerin (Antoinette) of St. Antoine, Mrs. O'Neil Leger (Jeanette) of Ontario, Mrs. Willie Richard (Rosa) of St. Ignace, Mrs. Lomer Caissie (Dorcas) and Mrs. Eloi Leger (Jeannine), both of Rogersville, and Mrs. Eloi Bourque (Yvette) of Burlington, Ont.; a son, Roger Barrieau of Brantford, Ont.; seven step-sons, Frederick and Clement Daigle, both of Geraldton, Ont., Francois Daigle of Ontario, Antoine and Tilmon Daigle, both of St. Anselme, Jacques Daigle of St. Louis de Kent and Regis Arsenault of Montreal; three sisters, Mrs. Aldei Melanson (Delphine) of Rogersville, Mrs. Albenie Doucette (Catherine) of Moncton and Mrs. Andre Richard (Sylvie) of St. Catherines, Ont.; 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her fist husband, Auguste Barrieau; her second husband, Francois Arsenault; a daughter, Alminie; three sons, Sylvain, Gerard and Lucien; a step-son, France; a sister, Leonore; and five brothers, Fidele, Andre, Norbert, Hugh and Remi.
The body will be at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Acadieville, on Tuesday. The funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto.
