SAINT ANTOINE (Special) - Mrs. Argentina Fontaine, 92, of Saint Antoine, died Friday at Stella Maris Hospital, Ste. Anne.
Born in Tracadie, she was a daughter of the late Sylvain and Emelie (St. Pierre) Blanchard. She had been a teacher for more than 35 years, and was a member of the N.B. Retired Teachers' Association. She attended St. Antoine l'Ermite Roman Catholic Church, and was a founding member and past president of Les Dames de Ste. Anne. She was a member of Saint Antoine Golden Age Club.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Valmond Leger (Yolande) of Saint Antoine, Mrs. Joseph Leger (Venolia) of Monton, Patricia Vallant of Calgary, and Mrs. Leo Poirier (Bernice) of Shediac Bridge; two sons, Roger of Sudbury, Ont., and Donald of Moncton; three sisters, Rita Leger of Peabody, Mass., Irene Gauvin of Cape Cod, Mass., Irene Gauvin of Cape Cod, Mass., and Yvonne Melanson of Holiday, Fla.; three brothers, Camille of St. Charles, Ernest of Saint Antoine, and Jean Baptiste of Leominster, Mass.; 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Georges, in 1982; a sister, Lorette, two brothers, Sylvain and Hilaire: and a grandchild.
The body is at St. Antoine L'Ermite Roman Catholic Church, where the funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m., with internment in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Chartersville Funeral Home, Dieppe.
