Mrs. Y. Landry St. Joseph (Special) -
The death of Mrs. Yvonne Landry, widow of Dr. Edward Landry of Montreal, and formerly of Moncton, occurred Friday at the Montreal Jewish Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Memramcook West, she was a daughter of the late Clement M. and Catherine (Gaudet) Leger. She served for 10 years as president of the CWL, and was the first secretary-treasurer, serving for 15 years, of the Elizabeth Fry Society in Moncton. Her husband, a dentist, died about 30 years ago. She had been residing recently at the Mother House, Missionary Sisters Christ the King in Montreal. She is survived by two daughters, Sister Roberte Landry, missionary sister serving in Haiti, and Miss Marie-Claire Landry, RN, Montreal; three sisters, Adrianne, Lorette and Marie Leger all of Memramcook West; a brother, Dr. Gerard Leger of Moncton, several nieces and nephews. The body is resting at the Mother House in Montreal, where mass will be celebrated in the convent at 9 a.m. today. the body will then be forwarded to St. Joseph for entombment in the St. Thomas Roman Catholic parish cemetery vault to await burial in the spring.
