The death of Edward D. Leger of 32 Park Street, Moncton, occurred Monday at the Moncton Hospital after a brief illness. He was 88. Born in Buctouche, he was a son of the late Moise and Mary (LeBlanc) Legere. He was employed as a locomotive engineer with Canadian National until retirement in 1953 with 50 years service. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. His wife, the former Annie LeBlanc, died in 1974. He is survived by a son, Gerald Legere of Dartmouth, N.S., three sisters, Miss May Legere and Miss Catherine Legere and Mrs. Susie LeBlanc all of Moncton; two brothers, Frank and William Legere, both of Moncton; five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. A son, Raymond Legere, died in August of 1975. The body is resting at Frenette's funeral home, Moncton. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Assumption Cathedral with entombment in the Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery vault to await burial in the spring.
