Crash Victims Identified -
RCMP Thursday identified the victim of a Wednesday night highway fatality near Moncton as Gerard Leger, 48, of St. Anthony, Kent County. County coroner Dr. J. A.Delaney ordered an autopsy, but reserved decision on an Inquest. The man was killed in the crash Wednesday evening of his half-ton truck 11 miles north of Moncton on the Mclaughlin Road. A police spokesman said the truck aparently went out of control on a curve near a covered bridge, killing the lone occupant of the vehicle when he was pinned beneath the truck. Born in St. Damien, Kent County, he was the son of the late Adolphe and Marie (LeBlanc) Leger. He was a member of the St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Alvina Cormier; four daughters, Mrs. Gerald Maillet (Rosa) of St. Damien, Mabel, Ella and Carol, all at home; three sons, Orris, Romeo and Martin all of St. Damien; four sisters, Mrs. Eloie Bastarache (Josephine) of Gardner, Mass., Mrs. Adolphe Richard (Bella) of Gardner, Mass., Mrs. Henrie LeBlanc (Aurore) of Gardner, Mass., and Mrs. Antoine Bastarache (Flora) of St. Damien, one brother, Antoine of Gardner. The body is resting at Frenette s funeral home in Moncton. Funeral service will he held on Saturday, June 15 at 9 a.m from the St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in the pariah cemetery.
