Robert E. Leger - FITCHBURG -
Robert E. Leger, 81, of 251 Theresa St., died Sunday evening, Dec. 14, at The Highlands Care Center, Fitchburg, after an illness. Mr. Leger was born in Fitchburg, May 21, 1922, a son of Henry and Eliza (Marley) Leger, and was a lifelong Fitchburg resident. During World War II, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force. For over 30 years Mr. Leger worked as an engineer at Fitchburg Engineering Co., retiring in 1987. Mr. Leger was a golf member at Oak Hill County Club. He was also a member of the St. Joseph Club, the American Legion No. 429 and the Retired Men’s Club. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Beatrice M. (Boucher) Leger; a son, James H. Leger of Newington, N.H.; three daughters, Joyce L. LeBlanc of Rindge, N.H., Janet M. Hammond of Harrisville, N.H., and Margaret T. Bouvais of Anchorage, Alaska; three brothers, Hennessey Leger, Alfred Leger and Roland Leger, all of Fitchburg; 12 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Edmond Leger and Rita Collette, both of Fitchburg.
LEGER - On Dec. 14, Robert E. Leger, 81, of Fitchburg. Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Gardner Visiting Nurses and Hospice.
