Adelard J. Legere
LEWISTON –Adelard J. “Del” Legere, 81, of Rumford, died Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Central Maine Medical Center. Mr Legere was a resident of Crescent Avenue in Rumford.
He was born in Rumford on August 29, 1920, the son of Oliver and Cordelia (Chenard) Legere, and had attended schools in New Brunswick, Canada.
During World War II he served as a Sgt. with the U.S. Army, Co. A. 1288th Engineers Combat Battalion from Jan. 30, 1942 to Nov. 11, 1945.
He was employed as a Color Maker at Boise Cascade Paper Co in Rumford for over 35 years until retirement Jan. 31, 1983.
He was a Communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church, a Life Member of Napoleon Ouellette Post # 24, American Legion and the Robert Shand Post # 1641, V.F.W.
He was married in Rumford, on July 24, 1950 to Theresa Marie Jaros who survives him, of Rumford; a daughter, Mrs. Debra Blanchard and husband Dennis of Candia, N.H.; a granddaughter Nicole L. Blanchard of Candia, N.H.; a brother Louis Legere of Cocagne Cape, New Brunswick, Canada; six sisters, Mrs Yvonne Pellerin of Dixon Point, N.B., Canada, Mrs Beatrice Duguay of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Mrs Lucienne Caissie of Cocagne Cape, N.B., Canada, Mrs Jeanne Gallant and husband Alvin of Rumford, Mrs Rhea Babineau and husband Mederic of Lynn, MA., Mrs Doris Cormier and husband Donald of Moncton, N.B., Canada; and many nieces and nephews.
