UNDERWOOD, Antoinette (Leger) Underwood, 93, of Hazard Ave., Enfield, widow of Raymond J. Underwood, died Thursday (March 14, 1996).
Born in Somersville, CT, she had lived on Hazard Ave. for the past 67 years. Mrs. Underwood was an honors graduate of Pay Path, Class of 1921, and had taught in the former Wallop School, a one room schoolhouse in Enfield. She had also taught in Atlantic City, NJ., Granby, and Glastonbury. Later, she was employed as an accountant at several of the automotive dealerships in the Enfield area. She was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church in Enfield and a past member of the Rosary Guild and the choir. She was also a member of the Enfield Historical Society and had a great love of music.
She is survived by three sons: Raymond Underwood of Enfield, Michael Underwood of Old Saybrook, and Gerald Underwood of Chicopee, Ma; a daughter: Annette Roy of Wilbraham, Ma; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen, who died in 1992.
Funeral services will be Saturday, (Mar. 16), 9:15 a.m. from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Enfield.
Her family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home today, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
