Rev. Clarence Léger 1914-2002 Rev. Clarence Léger, 88, of Dieppe, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at his residence. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Aldéric and the late Elodie (née: Cormier) Léger. Rev. Léger received his education at: Mary's Home, Académie du SacréCoeur, Collège Saint-Joseph and Séminaire Saint-Coeur-de-Marie. He was ordained to the priesthood March 26, 1939, by Mgr. Arthur Melanson. Rev. Léger served the diocese of Moncton in the capacity of curate at the Assumption Cathedral from 1939 to 1948, the Halifax Matrimonial Tribunal (Moncton division) from 1948 to 1951, and as parish priest at Our Lady of Loretto/Notre-Dame-de-Lorette from 1951 to 1995. He also accepted the responsibilities of Chancellor and Bursar of the diocese, director of Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, secretary to two bishops, as well as chaplain at the River Glade Sanatorium. Rev. Léger is survived by one sister Dora Carney of Glen Cove, NY. He was predeceased by two sisters: Rita and Jeanne and also by one brother Gérard. Visitation will be held from NotreDame-de-Lorette Church (Lakeburn) on Thursday, August 1, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm, also from the SteThérèse Church (Dieppe) on Friday, August 2 from 10 am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Ste-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, on Friday at 11:00 am. Interment in Notre-Dame-duCalvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
