NORWICH - Edward J "Red" Belliveau, 79, of Sherman Street, died Sunday at the William W. Backus Hospital.
He was born on Sept 7, 1918, in Amhearst, Nova Scotia, the son of Edgar and Margaret Ryan Belliveau.
He married the late Rhoda Dechenes on Nov. 20, 1941 in Norwich.
Mr. Belliveau worked for Lehigh Gas as a service man for 40 years. He was a life member and former president and director of the Norwich Fish and Game Club. He was also a life member of the American Legion and the VFW in Tafville.
Mr. Belliveau is survived by a son, Edward Belliveau of Norwich; five brothers, John and Robert Belliveau, both of Norwich, Thomas Belliveau of Bozrah, Clarence Belliveau of Middletown and Michael Belliveau of Pueblo, Colo.; two sisters, Marie Oloff and Irene Perkowski, both of Norwich; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother; Norbert Belliveau, and a sister; Margaret LeBlanc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church, Norwichtown. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Greenville. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St.
