Yvonne Léger -
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Yvonne Léger, 67, on Sunday May 17th, 2009 two days prior to her 68th birthday after a courageous battle with cancer at the Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton with her loving family by her side. Yvonne was born in Painsec Settlement, Scoudouc on May 19th, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Antoine and Amanda (Melanson) Bourque. She was the owner operator of Fisherman's Paradise Restaurant for the past 32 years. She started her restaurant career at Boreview Seafood, Moncton, Seaway Hotel, Toronto, and then worked at Cy's Seafood Restaurant, Moncton for several years where she learned many customer relation skills as Head Waitress and becoming part of management. She then proceeded to open her first Fisherman's Paradise restaurant in Shédiac in 1977 and with great success she opened her second location in Dieppe on April 19th, 1989 where she participated until recently with the daily operations. Yvonne was a very special woman who will be remembered for her kindness and generosity towards helping those in need. You could not find a better person than Yvonne. She was not only a great woman to everyone but she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who she loved very much. She was very proud of her two daughters and granddaughter. She loved to entertain family and friends with homemade cooking which was a great passion of hers. "Her gentle smile and generous heart will never be forgotten" She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband of 40 years, Victor Léger; daughters: Lisa Léger (Steve Roy) and Monique (Serge) Bourque both of Shediac; a grand daughter: Vanessa Field; a brother: Paul (Eva-Mae) Bourque of Dieppe; two sisters: Geraldine "Gerry" (late Normand) Breau of Memramcook, Amanda (Guy) Babineau of Scoudouc; brother in law: Léo (late Doris) Maillet, many other in laws, nieces, nephews and several close and dear friends who loved her very much, and also all the people who helped her realize her dream in the success of her business. Besides her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Bourque; a sister, Doris Maillet and by a niece, Carole Jaillet. Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Moncton, on Thursday May, 21st, 2009 at 11am. Visiting hours on Tuesday 7 to 9 pm, on Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, on Thursday 10 am until time of departure 10:50 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
