Thomas A. "Arty" Belliveau Sr. October 9, 1929 - November 1, 2011 Groton - Thomas A. "Arty" Belliveau Sr., 82, of 235 Lestertown Rd., Groton and formerly of Bozrah died early Tuesday morning at Fairview Odd Fellow Home in Groton surrounded by his family. He was born in Norwich on October 9, 1929 the son of the late Edgar and Margaret (Ryan) Belliveau. Arty was employed for 21 years as an inspector at Electric Boat in Groton and was last employed as an inspector at area nuclear plans before retiring in 1991. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a former member of the Bozrah Fire Dept. serving when it was first started. On January 10, 1949 he married Caroline (Malchiodi) Belliveau at St. John's Church in Montville who survives him. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Thomas A. Belliveau Jr. of Jewett City. Four daughters, Caroline Grant and her husband Charles of No. Franklin, Catherine Grimes and her husband Randolph of Mystic, Colleen Stepp and her husband Buster of Cannon City, CO, and Diane South and her husband Stephen on Kathleen, GA. One brother, John Belliveau of Norwichtown. One sister, Irene Perkowski of Colchester. Ten grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Rev. Norbert, Edward, Michael, Clarence and Robert Belliveau and two sisters, Margaret LeBlanc and Marie Gertrude Oloff. Funeral will assemble Friday at 9:00 A.M. at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B. St., Taftville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church in Norwichtown at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Norwich. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 6-8 P.M.
