Death of S. Poirier Shediac (Special) -
The death of Sylvere Poirier, RR 1, Spring Street, Moncton, Occurred Thursday at St, Joseph Providence Home, Shediac following a lenghty illness. He was 80. Born in St. Nicholas, P.E.I. he was the son of the late Jerome and Lolie (Arsenault) Poirier and had retired from the Canadian National Railway in 1951 as a carman. He was a member of the Assumption Cathedral and of the Sacred Heart League and the Brotherhood of the Railway Carmen. He is survived by his wife, Exelda (Gallant) Poirier, two daughters, Mrs. Willie Leger (Irene) of Cocagne and Mrs. John Boudreau (Marie) of Moncton; three sons, Willie of Moncton and Raymond and Albert, both of Waltham, Mass.; and one brother, Issac of Newtonville, Mass.; as well as 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The body is resting at Frenette's funeral home, 88 Church Street, Moncton with the funeral service to be held Saturday at the Assumption Cathedral at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic cemetery in Chartersville.
