Frederick F. Leger, 84
FITCHBURG- Frederick F. Leger, 84, formerly of 181 Hurd St., an avid golfer and retired paper maker, died yesterday in Birchwood Manor Care Center after a short illness.
He leaves his wife, Blanche M. (Provencher) Leger; a son, Frederick P. Leger of Groton; a brother, Arthur S. Leger of Fitchburg; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Shediac, New Brunswick, son of Fidel and Rosana (Richards) Leger, and lived here most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Mr. Leger was a paper maker for Weyerhaueser Paper Co. for more than 40 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the St. Joseph Club, and American Legion Post 429. An avid square dancer and golfer, he also enjoyed working with wood.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 46 Woodland St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1 Kendall Square, Building 600, Cambridge 02139
