E. Richard Shediac (Special) - Emile Richard, 78, of 100 Smith Ave., Shediac, died at his residence Monday. Born in St. Antoine, he was a son of the late Levi and Dina (LeBlanc) Richard. A CN Rail machinist, he had retired in 1972 with 30 years service. He attended St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Shediac, was a past director of the Shediac Caissie Populaire, past director and founding member of La Co-Operative de Shediac, past director and president of the Club Boishebert, past director and founding member of the Shediac Athletic Club, a member of the Richilieu Club and a former town councillor. He is survived by his wife, the former Irene Leger; six daughters, Mrs. Gerard Lesard (Lucille) of Cape de la Madeleine, Que., Mrs. Fernande Richard of Quebec, Mrs. Gaston Saucier (Dorine) and Mrs. Bernard Lesiege (Murielle), both of Tracy, Que., Mrs. Gerard Arsenault (Simonne) of Beresford and Mrs. Kirk Bowman (Gemma) of Leamington, Ont.; five sons, Guy of Baie Comeau, Que., Paul Emile of Barachois, Alderice of Shediac, Donald of Baie Trinite, Que., and Ulysse of Campbellton; a sister, Mrs. Placide LeBlanc (Lina) of Ste. Marie; a half-sister, Mrs. Aurelie LeBlanc of St. Antoine; two brothers, Neri of Waltham, Mass., and Aquila of St. Antoine; 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A half-sister, Melina and a half-brother, Gelas, died previously. The body is at Frenette's Funeral Home, Shediac. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Shediac. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
