George J. Leger, 62 Former longtime worker at Stop & Shop supermarkets
LEOMINSTER - George J. Leger, 62, of 45 Martha St., died Saturday, Aug. 8, in Leominster Hospital after a short illness.
He was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Fitchburg, the son of Phillip M. and Emilienne (Bourque) Leger, and had lived there before moving to Leominster 31 years ago.
Mr. Leger worked as a receiver-manager for 45 years at Stop & Shop supermarket stores in the area, retiring in 1997.
He served six years in the Massachusetts National Guard.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Lorraine (Pelletier) Leger; three sons, Steven J. Leger of San Diego, Calif., Thomas M. Leger of Lunenburg and Rick M. Leger of Leominster; two brothers, Bernard P. Leger of Fitchburg and John P. Leger of Valrico, Fla.; three sisters, Lea T. Crowley of Fitchburg, Mary LaBrake of Petersburg, Va., and Theresa M. Golding of Hingham; a granddaughter nephews and nieces.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday night from 7 to 9 at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg.
