She was a member of First United Church, Trenton; Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Trenton and a veteran of the Second World War. She is survived by her husband, Henry; son, Larry, at home; four sisters, Helen (Mrs. Donald McInnis), Stellarton; Vinie (Mrs. Howard Butler), New Glasgow; Ellen (Mrs. Donald Murphy), Pictou Landing Road; Sylvia (Mrs. Robert Hawboldt), Churchville; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister in infancy. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Rev. Stephen Fram officiating. Prior to her marriage she was employed at Christie Trunk and Baggage. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Church; ladies auxiliary of Amherst Fire Department; Monday evening and Wednesday afternoon Womens Bowling League; was an avid bingo player and canvassed for several charitable organizations. Surviving are her husband, Douglas; daughters, Deborah Landry, Tracy, Amherst; Wendy, Calgary; Sharon (Mrs. John Boucher Jr.), New Glasgow; sons, Stephen, David, Todd, Amherst; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceasd by sisters, Eva Tower, Winnifred Roberts; brothers, Ernest, Roy, William. Funeral will be 10 a.m. today in Nativity of Our Lady Church, Rev. David MacDonald officiating. Maccan, Dec. 26 - James H. Legere, last surviving member of the Legere family, and one of the oldest resident of Maccan of Maccan passed away at his home, Dec. 20th after a short illness. He was 76 years of age and is survived by his wife and one step-daughter (Vera) Mrs. Leo White of Dorchester, Mass. The burial service took place at the St Charles R.C. Church, Amherst, Dec. 22, with interment in Amherst.

She and her late husband where foster parents to 84 children over the years. She also worked as a nightwatch person for Rainbow Haven Children's Camp. She was an avid quilter and knitter. Surviving are sons, Alvah Jr., Chater, Man.; Richard, River Philip; Eric, Clifford, Gerald, Eastern Passage; Darrell, Dartmouth; daughters, Marie Hennigar, Cow Bay; Madonna, Elizabeth, Dartmouth; Ida Young-Leger, Malagash; Velma, Cole Harbour; Thelma Seager, Enfield; brother, Robert, British Columbia; half-brother, Paul Price, New Brunswick; half-sisters, Ruth Atwood, Esther Kierstead, Thelma Brower, New Brunswick; 35 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. MILLS, Nellie Margaret (Helen) -
Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home, formerly of Dufferin Street, Moncton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 1997. She was a daughter of the late Morris and Margaret (Legere) Mills. She was born in Joggins, Cumberland Co., on September 26, 1901, and was educated in Truro, Colchester Co. She was a nursing graduate of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. After graduation, she was on the staff of Colchester County Hospital, Truro, then worked as a private duty nurse. She was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in Europe and South Africa as a nursing sister. Upon returning to Canada, she took up residence in Moncton and for several years operated Mills Nursing Home, 12 Dufferin St. She was a member of St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6. She is survived by sister, Mrs. Mary Barry, Mississauga, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friend, Clara Stratton. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Joe M. Mills (Moncton) and sister, Anne Delahunt (Riverview, N.B.). There will be no viewing or visitation by her request. A memorial service will be held in Tuttle Bros. Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St., Moncton, on Thursday, September 18, at 7 p.m., Rev. B. Sloan officiating. Donations to the Tantramar Education Foundation or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.

75, Truro, died April 25, 1997, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Sackville, N.B., he was a son of the late Wesley and Mary Belle (Lerette) Sears. He retired to Truro, after being employee of Ford Motor Co., Oakville, for 28 years. A veteran of Second World War, he served with the Canadian Army in England, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Debert. Surviving are his wife, the former Ona Legere; sons, Owen, Stephen, Mississauga; daughters, Irene, Orangeville, Ont.; Joanne Colosino, Truro; brothers, Robert, Vernon, Sackville; Wesley, Amherst; sisters, Louise Babcock, Julia (Mrs. Bill Bulmer), Sackville; Mildred Lynn, British Columbia; Greta Worthing, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild. 63, wife of Garnet Legere. Joggins, died Thursday in the Highland View Hospital, Amherst. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Leblanc, Joggins. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sisters, Adel (Mrs. Henry White), Joggins; Marion (Mrs. Neil White), River Hebert; Doris (Mrs. Robert Gaynor), Riverton, Pictou County; three brothers, Stephen and Taddy, both of Joggins; Victor, St. Catherines Ont.; and several nieces and nephews. The body is at her home in Joggins. Funeral service will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins. Burial will be in Ragged Reef Cemetery.

80, Joggins, died July 9, 1994, at home. Born in Joggins, he was a son of the late Leo and Phoebe (Babineau) Como. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins and served as president of the Holy Name Society. He owned and operated the general store in Joggins for 50 years until his retirement in 1985. He was actively involved in Joggins and district organizations, some of which included: president of the Dr. Cochrane Memorial Society; secretary of the former Joggins Rink board; president of the Board of Trade; 20-year member of Cumberland County Housing Authority and member of the Joggins Volunteer Fire Department for 36 years, holding the position of fire chief at various times. He is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Legere; two daughters, Roberta (Mrs. Gary Collins), Delta, B.C.; Mary (Mrs. Allen Waring), North Vancouver, B.C.; two sons, Bruce, Moncton, N.B.; Barry, Dartmouth; sister, Norma LeBlanc, Chatham, Ont.; four grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, where parish prayers will be 8 p.m. tonight. Felton Legere Dies at 51 Yarmouth -
Felton F. Legere, former Member of Parliament for Shelburne-Yarmouth-Clare, died suddenly yesterday at his home in Pinkney's Point. He was 51. Mr. Legere had returned to his home from yarmouth only about ten minutes before suffering a heart attack. He died before a doctor could arrive from Yarmouth, 15 miles away. The son of A. A. (Joe) Legere and the late Mrs. Legere, he was educated at St. Ann's College, Church Point where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree, Following graduation he returned to the fishing community of Pinkney's Point where he was engaged in the fish buying business with his father until 1958 when he was elected to parliament on a Progressive Conservative ticket. He was returned to Ottawa in 1962 but, owing to ill health, he decided against contesting this years April 8 election. Bilingual - Fluently bilingual, he was at home in both French and English and was one of the most popular members in Ottawa. Genial in nature and used to working with fishermen all his life, he was equally at home addressing a large gathering or discussing local problems with the men of small fishing communities. Surviving besides his father and wife, Etta, are three sons, Dr. Aldric Legere, Boston, Michael, at home, Leroy, Ottawa; one sister, Beulah (Mrs. Leo Macdonald), Ottawa. The body is at Huskilson's Funeral Home, Yarmouth, pending funeral arrangements.
