À l’Hôpital Georges-L. Dumont de Moncton, le samedi 13 janvier 1990, à l’âge de 91 ans, est décédée Prémilia Dowuing, épouse de Phillip Downing, domiciliée à Caissie Cape. Elle était fille de feu Alfred Gallant et de feue Marie Babineau.

Outre son époux, elle laisse dans le deuil cinq filles: Lorette (Aurèle Cormier), de Scoudouc, Lina (Paul Poirier), de Dieppe, Edna (Amand Poirier), de Shédiac Bridge, Lodia (Emery Léger), avec qui Mme Downing demeurait, de Caissie Cape, et Alice (Léo Paul Gagnon), de Cap-Pelé; trois fils, Alcide, de Cocagne Cape, Léo, de Caissie Cape, et Ovila, de Gardner, Mass.; une soeur, Yvonne Babineau, de Shédiac River; deux frères: Ovila, de Caissie Cape, et Neri, de Cocagne Cape, ainsi que 42 petits-enfants et 45 arrière-petits-enfants.

Un fils, Télex; une soeur, Alice Scimider, ainsi qu’un frère, Arsène, l’ont précédée dans la tombe.

La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Maison funéraire Frenette de Shédiac. Les funérailles auront lieu ce lundi 15janvier à 19h en l’église La Visitation de Grande-Digue. L’inhumation aura lieu au printemps au cimetière de l’endroit.

Eugène (Gene)Léger

À sa résidence, le lundi 2 octobre 1989, à l’âge de 78 ans, est décédé Eugène (Gene) Léger, époux en première noce de feue Alice Dupuis et en deuxième noce de Bertille Blackmun, domicilié au 270 West Lane à Moncton. Né à Moncton, il était fils de feu Thaddée Léger et de feue Yvonne Léger.

Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil une fille , Janet (David Cogger), de Lower Coverdale; une soeur, Antoinette (Sifroi LeBlanc), de Memramcook, ainsi qu’un frère, Dollard, de Moncton.

Une soeur, Huberte et un frère, Arthur l’ont précédé dans la tombe.

M. Léger était membre du Club de curling Beauséjour et un des fondateur du Cercle acadien et du Club Beauséjour.

La dépouille mortelle est présentement exposée à la Maison funéraire Frenette de Moncton. Les funérailles auront lieu le mercredi 4 octobre à 10h en l’église Christ Roi de Moncton, et de là au cimetière Notre-Dame du Calvaire à Dieppe.

Arsenault, domiciliée à Tracadie-Sheila, mais originaire d'Alderwood. Née le 11 avril 1923, elle était fille de feu Liboire Arsenault et de feu Annie Arsenault. Elle laisse dans le deuil une fille, Odette (Clarence Légere) de Tracadie-Sheila; un fils, Valmond (Jacqueline) avec qui elle demeurait; une soeur, Louisa (feu Edmond B. The death of Joyce Marion Hovey of Hampton, wife of Jim Hovey occurred peacefully on July 8, 2007 at Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Saint John, daughter of the late Thomas and Pearl (Avery) Hodder. Joyce was an active member in her community. She was involved in past years with the Hampton Figure Skating Club, Hampton Seniors Resource Centre, Hampton Medical Centre, Hampton Food Basket, Hampton Tourist Bureau, Reach to Recovery Mastectomy Visitors, Canadian Cancer Society, member of Central Norton United Baptist Church, and the Red Hat Society. Surviving besides her loving husband, Jim; are children, Jeff Hovey, (Joanne), Ottawa, ON, Jennifer Legere (Michael), Saint John, Jon Hovey (Krista), Hampton; six wonderful grandchildren, Ben, Daniel, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Brandon and Ethan; several nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by sisters, Jean Ducalon and Ruth Ann Powell. Né le 18 mai 1924 à Moncton, il était fils de feu Léonide et Joséphine (Léger) Arsenault. Il laisse dans le deuil un frère, Aurele; une belle-soeur, Jeannita; deux beaux-frères: Brian Cavanaugh et Frank Allain, ainsi que des nièces et neveux. Son épouse, Thérèse (née LeBlanc), ainsi que ses frères et soeurs: Edgar, Alfred, Léo, Maria, Corinne et Henri, l'ont précédé dans la tombe. Il était retiré du CN après 37 ans de service. Ulysse Caissie (1935 - 2007) COCAGNE, NB -

Ulysse Caissie, 71, of Cocagne, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a brief illness in the palliative care unit at Dr. Georges-L. Dumont hospital on Tuesday, July 10, 2007. Born in Cocagne on August 20, 1935 he was the son of the late Georges and Alice (Despres) Caissie. Until retirement a few years ago Ulysse owned and operated Caissie Auto Body. He had a big passion for harness racing raised and trained horses for over 25 years. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and watching his grandchildren play hockey and ringuette. A loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and brother, he will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Elva (Babineau); sons, Claude (Suzanne) of Cocagne, Benoit (Sonia) of Renaud's Mill, Marc (Edith) of Bouctouche; sisters, Irma DesRoches (Willie) of Cocagne, Georgeline Leger (Yvon) of St-Antoine, Gloria Boudreau (late Emery) of Memramcook, Norma LeBlanc (Allain) of St-Anselme; brothers, David (Florence) of Manoir St-Jean Baptiste, Roger (Carmella), Donald (Alma), Normand (Therese) all of Cocagne; sister-in-law, Geralda of Cocagne; five grandchildren, Sylvie, Denis, Marilyn, Martine and Philippe; and his dog, Ruby. He was predeceased by a son, Charles (1987); brother, Omer (1996); one godson, Yvon Caissie (1999). Louise Richard of Villa Providence (formerly of Memramcook East and Aboujagane) passed away at her residence on Friday July 13, 2007 at the age of 100. Born in Lower Sackville, she was the daughter of the late Blair Leger and the late Ada Allan. She is survived by her daughter, Dorine (Rene) LeBlanc of Memramcook East; one son, Emery Richard of Memramcook East; two sisters, Lorraine (late Leo) Dupuis of Memramcook East and Elizabeth Leger of Dieppe; one brother, Cederic (late Marie-Anne) Leger of Shediac; 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Guy, Andre and Mariette; 8 great-grandchildren, Jasmin, Veronique, Samuel, Ariel, Bobby, Sophie, Miguel, Caleb and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Anselme (Sam) Richard; three sisters, Corinne, Thelma and Eveline; six brothers, Oswald, Patrick, Leo, Robert, Emery and Laurie. Hortense LeBlanc, 93, of Résidence Beau Séjour, Shediac, formerly of Shediac River, died Saturday, July 14 2007 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Cap de Cocagne June 21, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Philippe and Elida (Richard) Goguen. For those who were fortunate enough to have known this remarkable woman, they will remember that ready smile and welcoming manner. For some, it will be her zest for life and yet for others, it will be the grace and style she carried as a lady; but most of all, she will be missed as a caring, loving mother to all. She is survived by her four children, Muriel Legere (Cyril) of Bedford, N.S., Roger Mills (Eileen) of Vancouver, B.C., Sally Pettigrew (Robert) of Shediac, and Beverly Arsenault (Robert) of Shediac River. Two other young children who were raised with equal love along with her own; these being her sister, Theresa Nowe (Edward) of Halifax, N.S. and her nephew, Aldie Mills (Adele) of Souris, P.E.I. Also her brother, Adelard Goguen (Irene) of Cocagne; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her 1st husband, Stanley Mills; her 2nd husband, Camille LeBlanc; two sisters, Elizabeth and Geneva; two brothers, Gerard and Aurel; an infant son, Paul; and an infant grandson, Ricky. Surrounded by his loving family, Ernest J. Phinney, 66, passed away in the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 12, 2007. Born in Midgic he was a son of the Late Kenneth and Della (Sears) Phinney. Upon graduation from the Sackville High School, Ernie started his career with the Scotiabank, working in Sackville, Saint John, Hampton, Florenceville, Oromocto, Fredericton, Devon Park, Woodstock, Moncton and finally back to Sackville from where he retired as Branch Manager in 1997. A hobby farmer, he enjoyed the land and cultivated a blueberry field following retirement. He was a member of the Midgic United Baptist Church, where he was the current Church Moderator and Trustee. He was the former chairman of the Midgic Cemetery Committee. A musician he sang bass with Del Wheaton and Friends. Ernie will be sadly missed and long remembered by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn (Mason); three sons, James (Lynda), Fredericton, John (Anne), Ajax, ON and Jeffrey (Tammy), Midgic; eight grandchildren, Emelie, Rachele, Brandon, Kyle, Natasha, Nathaneal, Evan and Abigeal; sisters, Reva (Fred) Cook, Sackville, Nellie (Albert) Legere, Point de Bute, and Bernice Snowdon, Sackville; and a brother, Vernon (Tammy) Midgic; numerous nieces and nephews.
