Il a travaillé au Moncton Foundry comme soudeur. Il était un mécanicien licencié, il a également travaillé au moulin Nowlan, au garage d’Auguste Léger et a été propriétaire de son propre garage. Il a terminé sa carrière au département des Ressources naturelles, à la Pépinière de Saint-Paul. Il était à la retraite depuis 25 années, il a eu beaucoup de plaisir à camper, jouer aux cartes, aux quilles, et couper son bois de chauffage. Fernand était très généreux, il aidait n’importe qui dans le besoin.5
