    BURNS, Robert Frederick (Checker) -
    76, 29 Albion St., Amherst, died April 23, 1997, in Moncton City Hospital. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Walter and Catherine (Hughes) Burns. He was a veteran of the Second World War, and member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10, Amherst. Following the war, he re-enlisted in the Armed Forces and was discharged in 1970. He was employed with Bendex Mobile Homes and later, with Enamel & Heating Co. He was a member of St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Theresa Legere; daughter, Irene (Mrs. Ed Chevarlie), Moncton, N.B.; sisters, Mrs. Kathleen Kent, Mrs. Hilda Fowler, Amherst; brother, Bill, Springhill Junction; a granddaughter. He was predeceased by sister, Irene Lutes; brothers, Jack, Harry. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m., parish prayers 3 p.m., legion service 7 p.m., all today in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Rev. J.B. Christensen officiating. Burial later in spring in St. Charles/Nativity of Our Lady Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association.

Surviving are sons, Bruce, Halifax; David, Cole Harbour; John, Banff, Alta.; daughters, Debra Brinen, Mount Uniacke; Adelle Coffin, Lower Sackville; a son from a previous marriage, Douglas, Saint John; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Dealhoy, Fredericton, N.B.; Helen Legere, Montreal; brother, Russell, Saint John. He was predeceased by brother, Norman. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Stephen's Church, Rev. Lloyd Robertson officiating. Private committal will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Cottage, Brunswick Street, Halifax.

Tommy retired from C.P. Rail where he worked for a number of years as a supervisor. Tommy was a musical man who loved singing, playing the guitar & fiddle. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, puzzles and scratch tickets. Tommy loved going for drives with his wife Mary and spending many hours at the Lower Cove beach, swimming and walking hand in hand with Mary.1

    Au Centre hospitalier de Tracadie, le jeudi 23 décembre 1999, à l’âge de 73 ans, est décédé Ignace Légère, époux de feu Rita Losier, domicilié à Rivière-du-Portage. Né le 31 juillet 1926, il était fils de feu Ephrem Légère et de feu Sarah Desroches. Il laisse dans le deuil une fille, Linda (Ronny McGraw) de Sherbrooke; cinq fils: Fernand (Margaret) de Petitcodiac, Donald et Léonard (Shirley), tous deux de Fredericton, Laurent (Deborah) de Dieppe, et Eugène (Denise) de Hacheyville; quatre soeurs: Mathilda (feu Isaïe Latulippe), et Bertha (feu Johnny Breau), toutes deux de Covedell, Marguerite et Rita (feu Charles Légère), toutes deux de Lévis, QC, ainsi que 16 petits-enfants et cinq arrière-petits-enfants. Une fille, Jeannette; un frère, Jérôme, ainsi qu’une soeur, en bas âge, l’ont précédé dans la tombe.
