LEGERE, Eli -
94, 5880 Stairs St., Halifax, died peacefully at home February 28, 1998, surrounded by his family and close friends. Eli was the son of the late Louis and Suzanne (Cormier) Legere. He was predeceased by son, Michael, and several brothers and sisters. Born in Caraquet, N.B., Eli left home at an early age, working in the United States as a pilot and a heavy equipment operator building the Colorado Dam. Returning home, he learned as a blacksmith the welding trade, working most of his life for Nova Scotia Body Building. He is survived by his wife, Helen (MacKenzie); sons, Jim, Eastern Passage; Chester, Cole Harbour; daughters, Joan (Mrs. Dwayne Wood), Trenton, Ont.; Shirley (Mrs. Chum Johnson), Janet, both of Halifax; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be celebrated Wednesday, March 4, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Russell Street, Halifax. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Red Cross Society (home care) or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
