PATTERSON, FRED “PAT” -
FRED "PAT", 95, of Moncton, passed away on Friday January 20, 2012 at The Moncton Hospital. Born on July 3, 1916 in New Glasgow, NS, he was the son of the late Fred and Alice (Leger) Patterson. Pat was a veteran of the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Air Force and retired after 25 years of service as an office manager with CNR. He was a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch #6. Pat was well known throughout the Maritimes as a big band leader of the forties and fifties, and later as a club pianist. He and his orchestra often played at summer dances at Shediac Beach. Besides Moncton, he had engagements in England and Australia as well as in hotels and night clubs in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Arlene (Holder), one daughter, Barbara of Sarasota, Florida (Lee Jenkins); one son, Gary of Kelowna BC, (Jean); three step-sons: Michael (Nancy), Christopher (Kerry) and Patrick (Cathy); one brother, Ralph; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is predeceased by his first wife, Florence (Murphy) as well as two sons: Gordon and Robert. The funeral service and celebration of Pat's life will be held at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Saturday January 28, 2012 at noon followed by a reception. Veterans of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a service of remembrance Saturday at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
