PEARSE, Lorne Elden "Al" -
69 of Blockhouse, passed away May 21, 2010, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Peterborough, Ont., he was the son of George Merton and Hilda Eileen (Pigden) Pearse. He had enlisted in the Canadian Navy and was a member of the CFB Stadacona Band for 25 years. Upon his retirement from the navy, he moved to Blockhouse and worked at Eisnor's Esso, Mahone Bay and then later at Mahone Auto Service, Blockhouse. He was a member of Charity Lodge No. 69, A.F. & AM., and Royal Canadian Legion Br. No. 49, Mahone Bay, where he was co-founder of the legion band. He is survived by his wife, Clarice (Ernst) Pearse; daughter, Andrea (John) Legere, Hammonds Plains; son, Steven (Carol) Pearse, Maitland, Lunenburg, Co.; grandchildren, Emily and Brianna Legere, Wade and Shauna Pearse; great-granddaughter, Sierra Pearse; sister, Margaret (Keith) Moore, Peterborough. No visiting by request. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 26 in St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Ian Wissler, officiating. Burial of ashes will be in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch or The QEII Health Centre Foundation.
