BOURQUE, MARIE-CORINNE ARSENAULT - (1918-2010) -
Today, it is with sad emotions that we say good-bye to Marie-Corinne who passed away peacefully Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Dr. Georges-L-Dumont Hospital surrounded by her loving family. A great lady, she was a caring sister, an aunt, a friend, a colleague and also a great inspiration for all. Born, April 21, 1918 in LeBlanc Office, Marie-Corinne was the daughter of the late Walter Arsenault and Judith Landry. Survived by a brother John Arsenault (Stéphanie) of St. André- LeBlanc; five sisters: Catherine Dessaulles (Henri) of Montréal, Florine Cormier (Yvon Melanson) of Bas Cap-Pelé, Thérèse Léger (Roméo) of Shédiac, Cécile Brine (Ralph) of Bermuda, Yvonne Surette of Moncton and Juliette Bois (Gilles) of Pointe-du-Chêne; three very special friends: Thérèse Hébert, Géneva Babineau and Sister Anne Robichaud and also by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by three brothers: Claude, Gélas and Firmin and by one sister Gertrude. Marie- Corinne embraced her Catholic faith and embodied her strong value in her daily life. For all of us and for all her friends, she was a beaming beacon influencing many aspects of our lives. She graduated from different universities and pursued her great love for teaching. Till the day she retired, she devoted herself to education and has, in her own way, influenced the world of teaching. After leaving the classroom, she was employed with the Department of Education till her retirement in 1984. As a retiree, she devoted all her time to volunteering in the community. She was a member of the Club de l'âge d'or de Cap-Pelé and Shédiac, a member of the SERFNB, and responsible for the program for the elderly Go Ahead Seniors Inc. Marie-Corinne was also a founder of the Atlantic Network for the promotion of well being of the seniors and member of many committees and organizations. Marie-Corinne strived for perfection in every of her endeavors. She has been honored many times for her extraordinary contribution to different causes. She did receive, in 1987, the Prix de Mérite de l'AEFNB and the Leadership Excellent Award for the promotion of health for seniors (2000). She was awarded the Doctorate Honorary Degree in Education from the Université de Moncton in 1997. Resting at Funérarium Frenette, 2642 Acadie Rd., Cap-Pelé (577-3297) with visitation on Friday, May 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 15 from 9 a.m. until time of departure for the funeral. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday , May 15, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Sainte Thérèse-d'Avila Roman Catholic Church in Cap-Pelé. Interment in the parish cemetery.
