ALVIDA "BABE" ASHE, 87
TOWNSEND---- Alvida M. "Babe" (Leger) Ashe, 87, of 78 South Harbor Road, died Dec 10 at the Highlands Long Term Care Center, Fitchburg.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Henry J. Ashe; two sons, Henry J. Ashe Jr. of Holden and Gary J. Ashe of Ashby; and two sisters, Eva LeBlanc and Aurore LeBlanc, both of New Brunswick, Canada. She also leaves four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ashe was born in Fitchburg on April 21, 1913, a daughter of Andrew and Celina (Richard) Ledger. She grew up in Fitchburg and was a graduate of St. Joseph's School. She had resided in Townsend for over 40 years.
Ashe worked in the shipping department at New England Business Service in Townsend for 15 years before her retirement in 1977. She was a communicant of St. John Evangelist Church in Townsend.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec 12 at St. Joseph's Church, 46 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg, was in charge of arrangements.
