ALLEN, Frederick Joseph -
75, 3 Leckie St., Springhill, died on Thursday March 4, 1999 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary (Arsenault) Allen. He served overseas during the Second World War with the Canadian Army. He was a member of Cumberland Lodge 5 Knights of Pythias, and an adherent of All Saints Anglican Church, Springhill. He worked in the Springhill coal mines, with construction of the Springhill Penitentiary, with Surrette Battery in Springhill and as a commissionaire. He enjoyed his CB radio, carpentry, baseball and his family. Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Jessie Fraser; sons, Robert, Toronto; Arthur, Springhill; daughter, Linda (Mrs. Vincent Leger), Moncton, N.B.; brother, John, Springhill; sisters, Agnes Chapman, Moncton; Kathleen (Mrs. Val Thibodeau), Moncton; Theresa (Mrs. Jim Kelly), Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Bernard, Fidell, Robert, Arthur, Anthony; sisters, Elizabeth, Annie in infancy, Margaret; great-grand-daughter, Tiffany. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 pm today, 2-4, 7-9 pm Sunday in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday in All Saints Anglican Church, Springhill, Rev Frank Likely officiating. Spring burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. Donations to any charity.
