CORMIER, Sister Helen "Helen Marie" - 85, died in Mother Berchmans Centre, Mount Saint Vincent Motherhouse on September 27, 2001. Born in Moncton, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Adolphe and Helen (Bourque) Cormier. She entered the Sisters of Charity in Halifax in 1937 and made her Religious Profession in 1940. Sister taught for 40 years in Lowell, Mass., West Chezzetcook, Wedgeport, Meteghan, Yarmouth and St. Anne du Ruisseau, Vancouver and Kelowna, B.C. After retiring, she worked in parish ministry in Kelowna, B.C. She returned to Halifax in 1992 where she devoted her time to her painting. She is survived by brothers,
Paul (Shirley), William (Mae), Edward (Freeda) and Raymond (Gwen) Melanson; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Donald, Allen and Tilmont Melanson; sisters, Mary Marr and Margaret Conrad. The body will be in Mount Saint Vincent Motherhouse. Visitation 3-8 p.m. Sunday, September 30. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 1, in Mount Saint Vincent Motherhouse Chapel. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
